The store has been dressing St. Cloud students since at least 2007. The shop works the prom calendar rather than the whole year: it closes after the spring rush and reopens in January.
The location is downtown, on West St. Germain Street. Nearby schools include Apollo High School and St. Cloud Tech, plus Sartell, Sauk Rapids-Rice and Cathedral High School. It is one of the dedicated prom stops for central Minnesota families, and it handles both the gown and the tux.
Walk-ins are the whole idea. No appointment is required. Come in during business hours, and a stylist will work with you from the first rack to the final pick.
The dress side
Carrie's mixes budget-friendly gowns with designer labels. The store's own list of favorite designers includes Sherri Hill, Kate Parker, Johnathan Kayne, Chandalier, Ellie Wilde, Colette, Rachel Allan and Portia and Scarlett, and the store also names Aleta. A line of Carrie's Exclusive Gowns rounds it out.

Before the doors even open, the store publishes a digital style guide. One edition ran past 100 pages of trending looks, and the shop encourages students to share it with friends and shop early for the best selection.
A few things are good to know about schools and alterations.
Same school, same gown
Carrie's tracks which dresses go to which schools but runs no registry, so two students from the same school can buy the same gown. Staff will tell you if a dress is already headed to your prom.
Dress alterations
Handled by local seamstresses; staff keep a list to refer you to.
Tux fixes
Small fixes on rentals are handled in-house.
The reasoning on schools is simple: the same designs are sold at other stores and online, where nobody can control who buys what.
The store also gives shoppers a short checklist for picking a prom store in the first place: variety, convenient shopping times, a location that is easy to find, and a spread of price points.
The tux side
Tuxedo and suit rental is the other half of the shop's name, and it runs on a set package. Staff take every measurement in store and help match colors to the dress when needed.
