We highlight real boutiques across the country. Some are well-known names, others are hidden gems tucked into shopping centers and small towns. Each one gets its own page with the designer labels it carries, what to expect when you shop there, and an original write-up of the store.

How we work

How a shop gets listed

Every listing is researched by us before it goes live. Nothing is imported in bulk.

  1. 1Found

    A shop owner or a shopper sends it in, or we come across it ourselves.

  2. 2Researched

    We read the store's own website, its social pages and its public listings. We call some stores directly to confirm details.

  3. 3Labels checked

    We check the shop's designer labels against the designers' own store locators.

  4. 4Published

    The shop gets its own page. Owners and shoppers can send corrections at any time.

How we make money

Free for every shop. Featured shops pay for placement.

The guide is paid for by shops that choose a featured placement. Here is exactly what that buys, and what every shop gets without paying.

Featured shops add, for a yearly fee

  3. A card above the free listings on its state page, in search and on each designer page it carries
  4. A Featured tag in its state's list of shops

We never sell dresses ourselves. Every purchase happens directly with the boutique. How featured placement works

Since 2012

Top Prom Websites has done the same thing since 2012. We connect prom shoppers with stores that sell authentic designer dresses.

In the early years that included online retailers, checked with the designers they carried. It also meant warning shoppers about the counterfeit sites that used designers' own photos to sell copies. By 2018 more than 2,500 of those sites had been removed from Google, dropped by their hosts or put out of business.

Today the guide is built around local boutiques. They are the stores where you can try on the real dress before you buy it.
