Privacy Policy

Top Prom Websites (toppromwebsites.com) is a guide to prom dress shops in the United States. It is operated by Restore Point Digital LLC, an Ohio limited liability company ("we", "us"). This policy explains what information we collect when you use the site, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices you have.
You can browse every store page, state page and designer page without creating an account or telling us who you are.
Information you give us
We only collect information you type into a form on the site:
- Suggest an update and Contact Us forms. Your name, your email address, the store you are writing about, its city, and your message. We use this to correct listings, add new shops and reply to you.
- Feature Your Store form. Your name, your email address, your shop's name and its website. We use this to set up and manage a featured listing for your shop and to contact you about it.
- Payments. Featured listings are paid through Stripe's secure checkout. Stripe collects your card details directly. We never see or store your full card number. Stripe sends us a customer reference, a subscription reference and the payment status, which we keep so we can manage your subscription.
Please do not send sensitive information (health details, government ID numbers and the like) through our forms. We don't need it.
Information collected automatically
Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how people use the site: which pages they visit, how they arrived, roughly where they are (country, region and city, estimated from the IP address), what device and browser they use, and which store links or buttons they click. Google Analytics sets cookies (named _ga and _ga_ followed by an ID) that let it recognize a returning browser. We use these reports to decide which states, shops and guides to improve. We do not use Google Analytics to build advertising profiles of individual visitors.
Google processes this data under its own terms. You can read how Google uses it at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites, and you can opt out of Google Analytics on every site with Google's browser add-on. Blocking cookies in your browser also works. The site keeps working either way.
"Near me" search
If you tap the button to find shops near you, your browser will ask whether to share your location. If you allow it, we round your coordinates to about a kilometer (roughly the size of a neighborhood) before they leave your device, and use them only to sort shops by distance. The rounded coordinates are part of the search page address, so they reach our server and may appear in its logs. We remove them before any page address is sent to Google Analytics. We don't store your location or attach it to your name. If you'd rather not share it, decline the browser prompt and search by city or zip code instead.
"Was this listing helpful?" votes
When you vote on a store page, we record the vote as part of an overall tally for that listing. Votes are not tied to your name or email.
Hosting and security
The site runs on Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes your IP address, browser details and the pages you request in order to deliver the site, keep it fast and protect it from attacks and spam. That data is handled under Cloudflare's privacy policy.
Information about listed shops
Store pages describe businesses, not private individuals. We build them from public sources: each shop's own website, designer retailer lists, and published news coverage. A page may include a shop's name, address, phone number, business email, website, owner or staff names the shop publishes itself, and quotes from its own site. We may email a shop at its published business address about its listing.
If you own or manage a listed shop and something is wrong, or you want your listing changed or removed, use the Suggest an update form or email us at the address below.
How we use information
- To run the site, show search results and keep listings accurate.
- To answer your messages and act on your suggestions.
- To set up, bill and support featured listings.
- To understand which parts of the site are useful and improve them.
- To prevent spam, fraud and abuse, and to meet legal obligations.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with anyone for their own advertising. We share it only with the service providers that run parts of the site for us, and only as much as they need:
- Cloudflare: hosting, the site's database, security.
- Google: analytics.
- Stripe: payment processing for featured listings.
- Our email provider: to send and receive email with you.
We may also disclose information if the law requires it, to protect our rights or the safety of others, or as part of a sale or transfer of the site, in which case this policy would continue to apply to the information transferred.
How long we keep it
- Form submissions: as long as we need them to handle your request and keep the listing accurate, then deleted on request.
- Featured listing and payment records: for the life of the subscription and as long afterward as tax and accounting rules require.
- Analytics data: according to the retention setting in our Google Analytics account, after which Google deletes it.
Your choices and rights
You can ask us to tell you what personal information we hold about you, correct it, or delete it. Email us at the address below and tell us what you'd like. We may need to confirm it's really you before we act, and we'll respond within 45 days. Some state laws give residents additional rights. We honor these requests from anyone, wherever you live, and we won't treat you differently for making one.
You can also limit what we collect at any time: block or delete cookies, use the Google Analytics opt-out, or decline location sharing. Because we don't sell personal information or use it for targeted advertising, there is nothing to opt out of on that front.
Teens and children
Many people who use this site are high school students shopping for prom, often with a parent. The site is not directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them. You don't need to share anything personal to browse. If you believe a child under 13 has sent us personal information, email us and we'll delete it.
Security
The site is served only over encrypted HTTPS connections, payments are handled entirely by Stripe, and access to our database is limited to the people who run the site. No system is perfectly secure, so we can't promise absolute security, but we take reasonable steps to protect what you share.
Links to other sites
Store pages link to shops' websites, maps and designer sites. Those sites have their own privacy practices, which this policy doesn't cover.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle information, we'll update this page and the effective date at the top. Significant changes will be noted here for at least 30 days.
