Most of what happens in Suite 7 has nothing to do with prom. The store sells wedding gowns, bridesmaid and mother-of-the-bride dresses and flower girl dresses, rents tuxedos as a Cobb County affiliate of Jim’s Formal Wear, runs alterations, and boxes gowns for preservation. Prom is the one part of the business you can walk into cold: the store’s own site puts “no appointment needed” on its 2026 prom banner, while bridal fittings are booked. That distinction matters if you have a free Saturday in February and no plan.

Where it actually is
3718 Dallas Highway is a small retail strip on the north side of the road — Johnny’s New York Style Pizza occupies Suite 1 of the same building, Encore is at the far end in Suite 7. Directly across the highway sits the Avenue West Cobb at 3625 Dallas Highway, the open-air center with American Eagle and the rest of it. Two separate parking lots, but one trip: gown first, since the dress decision is the one that needs patience, then the Avenue for shoes and lunch.
The high schools are close in every direction. Marietta High School is on Whitlock Avenue in the same 30064 ZIP with roughly 2,600 students. Harrison is on Due West Road in Kennesaw, Kennesaw Mountain on Kennesaw Due West Road, and Hillgrove on Luther Ward Road and McEachern on New Macland Road, both in Powder Springs. That is several schools of 2,200-plus students inside a short drive of one storefront, which is the practical argument for going early rather than the second week of March.
Cobb proms come early
Spring formal season in this county does not wait for May. Harrison’s school page for one recent prom listed a Saturday, March 18 date at Zoo Atlanta’s Carlos Ballroom. Hillgrove’s prom page has run guest-form windows in late March and early April, with class dues owed before a ticket can be bought at all. If the dance is mid-March, a February visit is normal timing and a March visit is a scramble.
Why families choose it over the drive
Cobb’s other formal and bridal shops cluster north, around Kennesaw and Town Center, and the deep selection is in Atlanta. Encore is the West Cobb one, reachable from Powder Springs or from the west toward Paulding County without touching I-75. A customer review on one local listing makes the point more bluntly than a store ever could: “You DO NOT have to go to Atlanta for beautiful, quality formal/bridesmaid dresses.”
Worth knowing before you go
- Closed Sunday and Monday; open Tuesday through Saturday, 10 to 6. There is no Sunday-afternoon browse here.
- Alterations are priced a la carte, only for the work a garment needs, and the shop takes in gowns bought elsewhere — useful if last year’s dress or an online order needs a hem and a take-in.
- Tuxedo rental is in the same room as the gowns, so a couple can settle both in one visit.
- The shop’s Yelp listing dates the business to 2013, and its own listings cite the Marietta Daily Journal’s reader-voted Best of Cobb bridal award across several consecutive years.
