The store’s own description of itself, on Instagram, is a prom, pageant, Mardi Gras, homecoming, mothers and formal occasion boutique in south Louisiana. The Mardi Gras entry is not filler. Southwest Louisiana runs its own carnival, and krewe royalty from across the region promenade in costume at the Lake Charles Event Center on Lundi Gras, the night before Fat Tuesday, in front of thousands. Court presentations and krewe balls fill the weeks before that. Then prom arrives in the spring. A formalwear store here works two seasons back to back, and the first one is for adults.
The address is not a mall storefront
Suite 1A, 1450 William St. The building is the Lawton Building, three floors of office and retail; commercial leasing material for the address puts it at the head of the development’s Great Lawn with a view onto Contraband Bayou, and lists Jack Lawton Companies, Walnut Grove Development and a Morgan Stanley office among the tenants. So you are not parking at a strip center or walking a mall concourse. You park in a neighborhood-scale development and go into a suite in an office building.
Hours, as published on Faviana’s retailer page for the store and repeated in directory listings: Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., closed Sunday. Each of those four labels lists this store on its own retailer locator. That is the confirmed floor, not a full inventory — a shop covering pageant, Mardi Gras and mothers’ dresses is almost certainly carrying more than four lines, but four is what can be checked from outside.
Who walks in
Calcasieu Parish is the trade area. Barbe High, with roughly 1,900 students on West McNeese, is the largest feeder in town; LaGrange High on Louisiana Avenue runs closer to 880. Add Washington-Marion Magnet and Sam Houston, then the parish’s smaller schools — Sulphur, Westlake, Iowa, Vinton, DeQuincy, Starks, Bell City. That is eleven public high school proms in one parish, most of them within a short drive of William Street, plus the pageant and krewe business that runs on a different clock.
The store also pulls from farther out. One reviewer describes driving two hours to get there.
What the review record actually shows
It is thin: about ten reviews on Birdeye. It also splits. Several are strongly positive and name the owner directly, and one makes the point that this is a dress store rather than a gift boutique. Another is the two-hour drive, and it is negative — the shopper felt unacknowledged and left after ten minutes. Ten reviews is not enough to call a pattern either way, so treat the store as what it looks like: a small operation where the visit depends on the day and the crowd. A phone call before you go is worth more here than another star rating.
Why the local map is thinner than it was
Hurricane Laura came ashore in August 2020 and took a share of Lake Charles retail with it, including a bridal store whose owner told national press she had lost a stock of some 7,000 gowns in a building of more than 10,000 square feet. Fewer racks in the city means more weight on the shops still open, and more driving — Lafayette and Beaumont are each about an hour out on I-10. That is the context for a two-hour drive to a suite on William Street.
