Formal season here is not one season. It opens with homecoming in the fall, comes back for Mardi Gras ball season in January and February, and then runs into prom in the spring. Charisma is stocked for all three at once: its own site files prom, homecoming, evening, cocktail, quinceañera and Mardi Gras ball gowns under a single formal heading, next to a full bridal department. The store describes itself as locally owned and operated in south Louisiana since 1973.
Confirm the address before you drive
This directory record lists 3302 Johnston St. Charisma’s own website, its Facebook page, its Better Business Bureau profile and its Yelp listing all now give 102 Treehaven Blvd, in the 70506 ZIP. The phone number is identical on both, so the store appears to have moved rather than split. Call (337) 993-0209 and ask which door to walk into. Hours are worth confirming on the same call: the store’s site lists Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., while Yelp shows 9 to 6.
What the labels tell you
Four prom houses list Charisma on their official retailer locators: Alyce Paris, Clarisse, Jasz and Tiffany Designs. That is a mainstream American prom lineup — fitted jersey and sequins, ball gowns, the long two-piece looks that turn up in every Louisiana prom photo album. Charisma’s own formal page also shows Morilee, Malia Rose by Mary’s, and 2 Cute by J Michaels.
Two things about the operation matter more than the label list. Charisma keeps a tuxedo and suit department with rentals and alterations, and it does alterations in-house on what it sells — both listed on the store’s site and on its BBB profile, which shows the shop as accredited with an A+ rating. For a couple shopping together, that is one trip and one fitting calendar instead of two.
Who it draws
The Treehaven and Johnston Street addresses are both inside Lafayette, which puts the store within a short drive of Lafayette High, Comeaux, Northside, Carencro, Acadiana High out toward Scott, Southside in Youngsville, and the Catholic schools — Teurlings and St. Thomas More. The store’s own marketing claims a wider radius than that: Lafayette, Lake Charles and all of Acadiana. Lake Charles is roughly 75 miles west on I‑10, so families driving in from Jeff Davis or Calcasieu are part of the expected trade, and so are the Iberia, St. Martin, Vermilion and Acadia Parish schools that are all inside 45 minutes.
One thing to ask about
Public reviews cluster on the bridal side and mostly run positive, with repeat praise for consultants pulling dresses and for outfitting whole wedding parties. A minority describe a special order that went sideways — a dress arriving late or communication going quiet. Prom has a hard date. If your gown has to be ordered rather than carried out of the store, get the expected arrival date and the alterations timeline before you leave a deposit.
