This is a new store in an old space. Van Essen opened Tyana’s Bridal at 211 E. Main St. in June 2025 after two months of cosmetic work on the same retail space where she had run Tyana’s Boutique for nine years, according to The Globe in Worthington. The name comes from her two daughters, Tya and Tanna. If you shopped that address for clothes a few years ago, it is the same room and the same owner, rebuilt as a showroom.
Luverne is the Rock County seat, in the far southwestern corner of Minnesota, where I-90 crosses US-75. Sioux Falls sits about 30 miles west on I-90, a half-hour run, and for a long time that drive was what formal shopping meant here. A shop on this block changes the math: the courthouse, the cannon monument and the Palace Theatre marquee are all within a couple of hundred feet of the front door, so a dress appointment can be a walk-around downtown rather than a highway trip and a mall parking ramp.
The prom side is the newest part
Clarisse and La Femme both list this address on their official retailer locators. Both are prom houses first — fitted jersey, beaded bodices, the ball-gown-and-slit range teenagers are actually looking for. What is not documented anywhere public is depth: how many prom styles are on the floor at a given time, which sizes, and what the price band looks like. The store opened as a bridal shop and the prom labels came after, so call before you drive and ask what has arrived and what sizes are hanging. That is a fair question and a short phone call.
Three things about the space are confirmed and worth knowing before you go:
- Teresa Wieneke runs Simply Elegant by Teresa out of the same building, so alterations are in-house rather than a second appointment across town.
- There are two dressing room areas. This is a small shop, which is an argument for an appointment on a spring Saturday rather than a walk-in with four friends.
- Bridal gowns are stocked in sizes 4 to 26, and Van Essen told The Globe she keeps mermaid, sheath, ball gown, A-line and curvy cuts. She does not sell bridesmaid dresses and will point you elsewhere for them.
The calendar this store is working against
Luverne High School, about 378 students as of 2022-23, held prom on April 26, 2025, and the school’s news feed lists the 2026 junior-senior prom, “Aces and Elegance,” for April 25. That puts the real shopping window in February and March, when southwest Minnesota is still deep in winter and a store thirty miles closer than Sioux Falls is worth something. Girls from the smaller districts nearby — Hills-Beaver Creek, Adrian, Ellsworth, Edgerton, Pipestone Area — are all inside the same short-drive radius, which in a corner this rural means one shop’s inventory gets seen by several proms at once. Ask whether a dress has already gone to someone at your school if that matters to you.
One practical note: two phone numbers for this shop circulate. The number on the La Femme retailer listing is (507) 920-9115. The store’s own Facebook page and the Mon Cheri locator both show (507) 220-4958, which the June 2025 article gave as the appointment line. Either is worth trying.
