Ardmore sits at the junction of Interstate 35 and U.S. 70, roughly 90 miles from both Oklahoma City and the Dallas–Fort Worth metro, which means the drive to a metro dress store and back eats a Saturday. That distance is the whole argument for shopping formal wear in town. Uptown Formal Wear occupies Suite 48 of Thompson Square, the retail center at 2015 W Broadway St that a leasing listing described as a minute off I-35.
The brand list is the concrete part. Clarisse and Dave & Johnny both name this store on their official retailer locators, which covers a lot of standard prom ground — Clarisse for structured, beaded and fitted gowns, Dave & Johnny for the lower-priced end of the same market. Lucci Lu’s locator lists the store as well, for Lucci Lu and Abby Paris, meaning bridal and pageant-style gowns share the floor. The shop’s own Facebook page describes it as southern Oklahoma’s largest bridal, prom and men’s suit store; that is the store’s own claim, not a verified measurement, but it does tell you a date can shop for a suit in the same trip.
Who actually drives here
Carter County has about 48,000 people spread across 800-plus square miles, and Ardmore is the county seat and the place everyone comes to for retail. Ardmore High School is the only high school in Ardmore City Schools, with roughly 700 students. Plainview and Dickson sit on the edges of town, Lone Grove is just west, and Springer is a short run north. Beyond that, families come in from Marietta, Madill, Sulphur, Davis and Tishomingo, all of which are closer to Ardmore than to any city with a mall.
Ardmore High’s own school calendar has listed prom at the Ardmore Convention Center on North Rockford Road, about ten minutes from Thompson Square across town.

Twenty Google reviews, aggregated on Birdeye, average 4.1 stars. The useful details in them are mixed and worth knowing before the drive. Reviewers describe a clean store and staff who greet you quickly, and one parent wrote about shopping winter formal attire there with kids who felt comfortable. Another rated the store well but noted the plus-size selection was thinner than advertised. If extended sizes matter, ask what is on the rack in your size before you come.

- Hours listings disagree. One shows 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. most days with Sunday afternoons; another shows afternoons only, Tuesday through Friday, plus Saturday. Call and confirm.
- Thompson Square is a multi-tenant center with a large parking lot, shared with medical offices and other small shops, so parking is not the problem it would be at a metro mall.
- Prom season in south-central Oklahoma runs through April and early May, and a single-store town sells its best gowns early. February and March are the honest shopping window.
