For 22 years this store was a downtown Prattville business. When the lease came up in 2020 and the landlord decided not to renew, owner Linda Burgamy went looking for space close to where her customers already were, and found it a few miles east in Millbrook — the storefront that had been Gateway Ministries, in the shopping center next to Jones Drugs on Highway 14. She had been driving past it on her way home for years.
That history is the useful thing to know about this shop. Its customer list was built in Autauga County and its address is now in Elmore County, and Highway 14 is the road that ties the two together — it runs east out of Prattville, through Millbrook, and on to Wetumpka. Burgamy graduated from Prattville High, raised her family in Holtville, and has spent her adult life in Elmore County. The trade area of this store is essentially her own.
Getting there
The address is 4119 AL-14, immediately beside Jones Drugs at 4117. Millbrook has three I-65 exits along its western edge, with Exits 179 and 181 anchoring most of the city’s commercial development, so from Prattville or from Montgomery the trip is interstate to Highway 14 and then a short run in. From Wetumpka, Deatsville, or Coosada, Highway 14 and Main Street get you there without touching the interstate at all. Millbrook had 16,564 residents at the 2020 census, up from 14,640 in 2010, and a good share of the newer households commute to Maxwell-Gunter, about a dozen miles south.
Who is shopping here
Stanhope Elmore High School sits on Main Street in Millbrook, about two miles from the store, with roughly 1,100 students in grades 9–12 — the Mustangs, whose rival is Wetumpka High. That is the closest feeder, but the reachable list is longer: Wetumpka, Holtville in Deatsville, Elmore County High in Eclectic, and the Prattville schools the shop served for two decades before the move. Millbrook itself straddles the Autauga–Elmore line, which is why the two counties’ prom seasons both land on this one counter.

The verified prom labels here are Alyce Paris, Clarisse, and Tiffany Designs. On the menswear side the shop works directly with Jim’s Formal Wear and Paul Morrell, and does both rentals and purchases, so a dress and a tux for the same couple can be handled in one visit. The move also gave the shop two private bridal suites, which is where the fitting space came from.
Prices for prom are not published. For bridal the shop states it works under $2,500 with most gowns between $899 and $1,800, which tells you something about where the store positions itself, but call for prom numbers rather than assuming. The site posts hours of 10–5 Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, closed Wednesday, 9–3 Saturday, and Sunday by appointment only — the closed Wednesday is worth remembering before you make the drive. The nearest real alternative is Montgomery, under 15 minutes south of Millbrook, where several formalwear and bridal shops cluster. That is close enough that this store is not anyone’s only option — it is the one you choose when you want to stay in the River Region and deal with the same owner your cousin dealt with in Prattville.
