The store describes itself, in its own listings, as Lafayette’s destination for mother-of-the-bride and mother-of-the-groom dresses, formal gowns and luxury eveningwear, with dresses for showers, rehearsal dinners, galas and black-tie events. Prom sits inside that, not above it. Three prom and evening houses list this address on their official retailer locators: Jovani, Terani and Colette. The shop’s own website emphasizes private consultations, one-to-one attention and alterations done to the gown.
What that means if you are shopping for prom
- Expect a small room and a short rack, not hundreds of gowns to flip through. Acadiana has stores built around prom volume; this is not one of them. The trade-off is the one that matters to some seniors and not at all to others: fewer dresses, less chance of a repeat on the dance floor.
- A mother can shop her own gown on the same visit. That is the core of this business, so the wedding-season and black-tie racks are the deep part of the inventory.
- Ask about Lease the Look by Park Lane, the shop’s own rental service. For a gown that gets worn once, renting is a real option here in a way it is not at most prom stores.
- Call before you drive. A single suite with private appointments does not absorb four walk-ins at once on a Saturday in March.

Carnival runs before prom
Formal season in Lafayette does not start in the spring. Around nineteen krewes under the Greater Southwest Louisiana Mardi Gras Association put on their own pageants and balls; the Krewe of Rio opened the 2025 Lafayette season on January 11, and Queen Evangeline is presented the Monday evening before Mardi Gras. Local boutique owners have told The Advocate that carnival gowns and prom gowns are often the same purchase, worn twice. If you are shopping a store like this one, the practical consequence is that the eveningwear stock turns over for ball season in January and February, ahead of the April prom weekends — so a January visit and an April visit can show you two different rooms.
