The address is 11509 Lamey Bridge Road, in the retail strip that begins almost at the bottom of the Exit 46 ramp — Mississippi Gulf Coast traffic pours off the interstate right there. D’Iberville High School is on the same street, at 15625 Lamey Bridge Road, a short drive north. A prom store on the same road as the high school it dresses is not the usual arrangement.
DeJaVu runs several businesses out of one storefront. It stocks new prom labels — Ashley Lauren, Colette and Jasz each list this shop on their official retailer locators. It also sells pre-owned formal wear and takes women’s and children’s clothing on consignment, and it rents both dresses and tuxedos. Its own listings describe the mix plainly: new and pre-owned formalwear, dress rentals, tux rentals, consignment, and spray tans. The shop’s Facebook page says it offers layaway.
That combination changes how a shopping trip works. A girl who wants a new, never-worn Ashley Lauren for her senior prom and a girl who needs something for one Carnival ball are looking at different racks in the same room, at prices that are not in the same range. Ask which side of the store you are on before you fall for a dress.
Who this store is close to
D’Iberville sits at the head of the Back Bay of Biloxi, and I-110 drops straight south across the bay to U.S. 90, so Biloxi and Keesler Air Force Base are a few minutes down the spur. East over the bridge on I-10 are Ocean Springs and St. Martin, where St. Martin High School’s Yellow Jackets are on Yellow Jacket Boulevard in the Jackson County district. Vancleave is up Highway 57. Gulfport, Harrison Central and West Harrison are west on I-10. Most of the coast’s public high school population is inside a twenty-five-minute drive of this exit.
The Promenade — Target, Kohl’s, Best Buy, Dick’s, Hobby Lobby — is less than half a mile away, which makes shoes, jewelry and a photo-day backdrop the same trip rather than a second one.
Two formal seasons, not one
Carnival comes before prom here, and it is a gown season in its own right. The Gulf Coast Carnival Association has been Biloxi’s Mardi Gras organization since 1908 and holds its ball ahead of the Fat Tuesday parade downtown; the Order of Mithras, organized in Biloxi in 1924, has held masked balls nearly every year since. Coast krewe balls at the Biloxi and Ocean Springs civic centers call for floor-length gowns and black tie. That means January and February pressure on the same racks that prom hits in March and April, and it is part of why a rental option exists in a town this size.
Before you drive over
The store’s own site lists Tuesday through Friday 11:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Saturday 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., closed Sunday and Monday. Older third-party listings show longer hours, including Sundays, so the posted times have changed at least once — call (228) 818-0026 rather than trusting a search result.
One more thing worth knowing: several directories, this one included, still file the business under Ocean Springs, and older records point to a Bienville Boulevard address there. The ZIP on the current address, 39540, is D’Iberville, in Harrison County. Put the Lamey Bridge Road number in your map app, not the store name.
The nearest comparable full-service formal and tux shop is in Gulfport. After that, Mobile is about an hour east and New Orleans about an hour west.
