The order this shop lists things in tells you most of what you need to know. Southwest Mississippi has plenty of stores that will sell you a prom dress and a pageant gown off the same rack. This one puts pageant at the front of its own description — pageant, prom, homecoming, tuxedo rentals — and the word pageant is in its web address too. If you are shopping a competition wardrobe rather than one dress for one Saturday, that ordering matters.
The address is 128 West Monticello Street, a downtown storefront rather than a unit off the bypass. Brookhaven is the Lincoln County seat, where Interstate 55 crosses U.S. 84. Brookhaven High School is at 443 East Monticello — the other end of the same street.
The labels on the floor
Seven designers list Blush n Bashful on their own official retailer locators: Jovani, Amarra, Ava Presley, Jasz, Jessica Angel, Tiffany Designs and Johnathan Kayne. That last name is the pageant tell; Johnathan Kayne is a competition-stage label more than a prom one. All of these lines sell through authorized stores instead of direct to shoppers, so a floor like this is the only place to see them in person and in your size. Tuxedo and suit rentals are handled here as well, which collapses two errands into one stop.
Who walks in
Brookhaven High enrolled 806 students in 2023–24. The Panthers wear navy and red, and Ole Brook is what people here call the school. Brookhaven Academy, private and PK–12 with roughly 600 students, sits northwest of downtown on Brookway Boulevard Extension.
Then there is the Mississippi School of the Arts, a few blocks west on the old Whitworth College campus. MSA is a state residential high school for juniors and seniors only — about a hundred of them, drawn from across Mississippi, taking their non-arts classes at Brookhaven High half a mile away. For a boarding student from Tupelo or the coast, shopping at home with her mother is not a weekend errand. The nearest formal store to the dorm is this one.
The county is a different pattern. Lincoln County School District runs four K–12 attendance centers, all rural, all with their own prom: Loyd Star out Highway 550 northwest, Enterprise on Highway 583 southeast, West Lincoln on Jackson Liberty Drive, and Bogue Chitto to the south. Classes that small make a duplicate dress a real risk, and it is a fair question to ask at the counter — whether they track which school bought which style.
The alternative is a drive
McComb is 27 miles south on I-55, about half an hour, and has the Uptown McComb mall anchored by Belk. Jackson is 55 miles north, roughly an hour each way before you park. For a family in Lincoln County, the honest comparison is a ten-minute trip downtown against two hours in the car on a school night.
Two practical notes. The store says no appointment needed, which is unusual enough to be worth knowing if your schedule is unpredictable. And its hours contract in the off season — the summer schedule it has posted runs Thursday through Saturday, with a short Saturday — so call before driving in during June or July. Mississippi proms land in April, which puts the real shopping in January and February, not spring.
