Campbell County High School and Thunder Basin High School hold their proms on the same evening, in the same town, a few miles apart. In 2023 both grand marches happened on Saturday, April 29. CCHS alone enrolled 1,169 students in 2023–24, and Thunder Basin has been running its own prom since the school opened in 2017. That is a lot of junior and senior girls shopping the same racks in the same six-week window.
Bash Co. Bridal & Formalwear handles it with a registry. Every prom gown the store sells is logged to the buyer’s specific school, and once a dress has gone out for that school, the store pulls it from availability for that event. A Camel and a ‘Bolt can buy the same style without ever knowing it. Two students crossing the same stage cannot.
What is on the rack is what exists
The store sells prom in stock only. Nothing is special-ordered, so the inventory on the floor in February is the inventory, and the dress you like goes home with you that day or goes home with someone else. Its own prom listing puts the range at $150 to $600. Dave & Johnny and Jovani both list the shop on their official retailer locators.
Practically, that changes the shopping calendar. There is no ordering window to fall back on and no reason to wait for a restock. Coming in early is not upselling advice here, it is how the model works.
The other half of the couple
Bash Co. is a Jim’s Formal Wear affiliate store, with suits and tuxedos available to rent or buy, so a couple can be measured and fitted on one trip instead of two. The shop also runs a bridal side, with wedding gowns it advertises in the $800 to $2,600 range, which means prom season shares the floor and the fitting rooms with brides. Appointments are preferred and walk-ins are taken. During March and April, with two schools’ worth of students moving through, the appointment is worth making.
Getting there
The store is Suite C at 700 South Douglas Highway, the Highway 59 commercial strip, between 7th and 8th on the south edge of downtown. Gillette is the Campbell County seat and, at roughly 33,500 people, the third-largest city in Wyoming after Cheyenne and Casper. Students from Wright come up 59 to shop here; the rest of the county is already in town.
The alternative is a highway day. Rapid City sits 141 miles east on I-90, a little over two hours one way, which is four hours of driving plus the shopping before anyone has tried anything on. That distance is most of the argument for a local shop that opened in 2023 and stocks designer prom in Gillette at all.
