How to use it
Choose your state to see the 2026 prom dates we found from schools and local news in that state, each linked to the page that published it. Leave it on All states to see the national picture.
This is a sample, not a complete calendar. Schools set their own prom dates, and two schools in the same town can be weeks apart. The sample shows the range and the busy months. Your school's own announcement is the only date that counts. Our page on when prom is explains why dates vary so much and how to find yours.
What the dates tell you
Most of the proms in our sample fell in April and May, with some as early as March and a few in June. That matters for shopping. Most prom shops open for the season in early January, so an early prom leaves a much shorter window to try dresses on and order. Once you know your date, the prom countdown turns it into a step-by-step timeline.
Why some states are thin
Some states have only one or two verified dates so far, and a few have none. We add a date only after a school, district or news outlet has published it, and we recheck the list as 2027 dates appear. If your state is empty, your school website or class advisor is the fastest answer. When you are ready to shop, each state with listed shops links to its page, and the full list is on prom shops by state.
