Downtown Blue Ridge — the depot, the East Main storefronts — is built around weekend visitors. The prom dresses are not down there. C&C Bridal and Prom Wear Boutique is on Spring Hill Circle, reached by turning off Highway 5 roughly eight miles north of the Highway 5 and 515 junction, the McDonald’s light everybody gives directions from. That stretch of 5 runs past Mercier’s and on north toward Epworth and McCaysville. A neighbor asking after a seamstress on Nextdoor a few years back described the place the way locals do: off Highway 5, near Epworth.
The shop’s own site leads with tailoring, not inventory, and that is the useful thing to know about it. Charlotte, named as the master tailor, is credited with more than 25 years of custom alteration work. The store does alterations on everything it sells, and it also takes in garments bought somewhere else — a dress ordered online, a dress from a cousin, a winter coat with a bad zipper. It will build bridesmaid dresses to measurement, and it makes the case that ordering a gown to your measurements can come in under the cost of altering a stock size. It also works pageants and fashion shows, and does wedding gown preservation.
On the prom floor, two labels are confirmed through the brands’ own retailer lists: Jovani and Dave & Johnny. The store’s website adds Stella Couture, Adagio, Andrea Leo, Envious and, on the bridal side, Casablanca’s Beloved line and a plus-size specialist — those come from the shop, not from an independent source. For guys, the site lists tuxedos and suits in all sizes down to small boys, Michael Kors slim-fit tuxedos among the newer stock, with suits and tuxedos starting at $99.
Who actually drives here
Fannin County has one public high school. Fannin County High, on Rebel Circle in Blue Ridge, enrolled 886 students in 2023–24 out of about 2,800 in the district. That single-school arithmetic matters for prom: one dance, one night, one small pool of girls who will all see each other’s dresses, which is a real reason people ask what has already sold out of the store.
The trade area reaches over the state line. Copper Basin High School in Copperhill, Tennessee, runs grades 7–12 with 244 students, and for Copper Basin families Blue Ridge is the nearest town with any retail scale — Highway 5 delivers them almost to the door. South on 515, Gilmer High in Ellijay is much bigger at about 1,240 students; Walmart’s own locator puts East Ellijay 17 miles from the Blue Ridge store. Beyond that, the drive gets serious. Blue Ridge is 90 miles north of Atlanta by I-575, so shopping the metro means a 180-mile round trip and a full Saturday.
Before the drive
- Posted hours are Monday through Saturday, 10 to 5. Appointments are not required.
- Sunday is contradictory on the store’s own site: one line says closed, another says it began taking Sunday appointments after expanding. Call (706) 633-9069 rather than guessing.
- Alterations are open to the public, not just to buyers.
- The listed address is a small rural circle, not a strip center. Set the number in your phone before you leave the highway; cell service thins out north of town.
- The shop ships dresses, which is worth knowing if you are ordering from farther out in north Georgia or from the Tennessee side.
