Most of what happens at 8004 North Milwaukee Avenue is weddings. The shop describes itself as a house of couture and fashion, and its own site says it has worked in bridal and formal wear for more than 30 years, selling gowns from its own line alongside outside designers. Customer reviews on WeddingWire and The Knot mention Pronovias, Enzoani and Stephen Yearick wedding dresses, brides coming back a dozen-plus times for fittings, and Omaima herself greeting people at the door. Prom is one department inside that business, not the whole of it.
That matters in a practical way. The shop advertises custom-made gowns and alterations done in store, and the reviews that mention hemming and taking a dress in describe a seamstress on the premises rather than a referral to someone else. For a prom dress, that is the difference between one address and three: the gown, the fitting and the changes stay in the same building.

Niles is one of the most foreign-born towns in Illinois — Census figures put it above 40 percent, with Polish, Assyrian and Greek listed among the largest ancestries. Milwaukee Avenue is the spine of that. In 2022 the state designated the road from Sangamon Street in Chicago north to Greenwood Road in Niles the Milwaukee Avenue Polish Heritage Corridor, in part because Polish businesses that once sat in Avondale and Jefferson Park had moved out along this exact stretch. The high schools are close and they are not all alike. Notre Dame College Prep is about a mile north on Dempster, all boys, roughly 780 students — its prom brings dates in from everywhere. Resurrection College Prep, all girls, is south on Talcott with about 460. Public-school families in Niles are split between Maine Township District 207, whose Maine East sits on Dempster in Park Ridge with roughly 1,900 students, and Niles Township District 219, whose Niles West and Niles North are over in Skokie. Taft, in Norwood Park, is the giant of the group at more than 4,000.
This is a dense market, so the honest note is that alternatives are close rather than far. Jovani’s own Illinois listings put Gigi’s Closette on Waukegan Road in Glenview and Vanessa’s Modern Bride on Campbell Street in Arlington Heights — both a short drive. What is not an option right now is treating the mall as the fallback: Golf Mill, two miles up Milwaukee, has been in redevelopment limbo since Niles trustees approved a $442 million agreement with the Sterling Organization in June 2024, and the local Journal & Topics reported demolition still had not started more than a year later.
What tips the drive one way or the other is fit. If a dress off the rack will work as-is, plenty of places in the metro can sell you one. If it needs to be rebuilt around a body — or made from scratch — this is a shop that does that work for brides year-round.
