In its own description of the store, Cheron’s explains the layout plainly: one side is a private bridal lounge, the other side is the prom and boutique side, and there are two separate doors. That split is the most useful thing to know before you drive out here. Brides book an appointment. Prom shoppers do not have to.
The store’s Instagram account puts it in writing: bridal appointments Wednesday through Saturday, walk-ins welcome for prom, tuxedos and boutique dresses Wednesday through Friday 11–5 and Saturday 10:30–4. Closed Sunday through Tuesday. The listing on Jim’s Formal Wear, where the shop is an authorized tuxedo retailer, shows the same Wednesday-to-Saturday window but marks all four days “by appt.” Hours drift during peak season at a shop this size, so call (423) 531-2060 first if you are coming down from Soddy-Daisy or over the mountain.
The Northgate corner it sits on
Northpoint Boulevard is the service loop off Highway 153 near Hixson Pike, next door to Northgate Crossing — the Goodwill-anchored strip at 1966 Northpoint — and a parking lot away from Northgate Mall. The mall is the thing everyone in this part of Hamilton County asks about. CBL Properties, which owns it, plans to demolish most of the enclosed interior and rebuild the site as a town center, leaving Belk, Old Navy, Ulta, BJ’s and Culver’s standing; at a Friends of Hixson meeting the company said demolition is still roughly three to six years out. Local coverage put the count of active stores inside the mall at around twenty.
None of that touches this store, which is in a suite on the strip and not inside the mall. It does explain why the lots around it feel emptier than the traffic on 153 would suggest. Parking is not a problem here, which is worth something in March.
Whose prom this is
This is the north-of-the-river side of Hamilton County Schools. Hixson High is the closest, with Red Bank High down 153 toward Dayton Boulevard, Signal Mountain Middle/High up the mountain, and Soddy Daisy High and Sale Creek Middle/High north along the Dayton Pike corridor. Families from those five schools can reach Northpoint Boulevard without crossing the river or getting on I-75.
The alternatives mostly require doing exactly that. Windsor and David’s Bridal sit on the Hamilton Place side of town, and Ever After Bridal and Formal Wear carries prom in Chattanooga proper. From Hixson, all of those are a cross-town trip.
What’s in the racks
Three prom and evening labels list this store on their own retailer locators: Alyce Paris, Dave & Johnny and Tiffany Designs. The shop also sells prom and homecoming dresses alongside mother-of-the-bride, evening wear and boutique dresses, and rents and sells tuxedos and suits through Jim’s Formal Wear — so a couple can settle the dress and the tux in one visit. Bridal gowns here are sold off the rack.
The Jim’s Formal Wear page names Cheron J. Douglas as owner/operator and leans hard on measurement, quoting her: “My priority is perfection.” For a tux rental, that means getting measured in person rather than guessing off a size chart.
