Ware County runs one high school. Ware County High on Victory Drive enrolls roughly 1,600 students in grades nine through twelve, so the county gets one prom, one homecoming, and one set of pictures that everybody sees. In a county that size, buying a gown is partly a question of who else has already bought that gown. If duplicate styles matter to you, ask what has already gone out the door in Gator green-and-gold season before you commit.
Beautiful You sits in the strip center at 2503–2509 Plant Avenue, in Suite C. Plant Avenue is US 84 — the road that comes into town from Blackshear on the east and runs west toward Homerville and eventually Valdosta. The avenue is named for Henry Bradley Plant, the railroad builder whose system made Waycross a junction; the 1911 Union Station depot stands on the same street. Six rail lines still converge here, and CSX’s Rice Yard, about 850 acres of it, sits behind the town.
What the store carries
Two brands are confirmed on their makers’ own retailer lists: House of Wu and Tiffany Designs. Those are not two unrelated pickups. Tiffany Designs is the House of Wu prom and pageant label, and the company recently folded its Studio 17 and Panoply collections into it, so the current Tiffany racks cover what used to be three catalogs. Expect the House of Wu look: glitter tulle, sequin columns with high slits, and full-skirted ballgowns cut at pageant scale rather than mall scale. National online retailers list current Tiffany Designs styles in the mid-$300s to low-$500s, which is a useful reference point — the store does not publish prices.
The shop’s own description covers prom, homecoming, wedding, bridesmaid, and tuxedos, so a couple can settle the dress and the rental in one stop. Listings also file it under tanning salons and it has traded under the name Beautiful You Formal & Bridal Wear Tanning Salon, which is a normal combination for a formalwear business in a town this size. Georgia’s corporate registry shows the LLC behind it organized in February 2021, with the registered agent at this same suite; that is the date on the paperwork, not necessarily the day the doors opened.
Whether the drive makes sense
Waycross is the retail center for a wide, thinly populated stretch of southeast Georgia. Ware County is the largest county in the state by area at 908 square miles, much of it Okefenokee, at about 41 people per square mile. The county seats around it are small towns on the same few highways:
- Blackshear (Pierce County) — about ten minutes east on US 84
- Homerville (Clinch County) — west on US 84
- Alma (Bacon County) — north on US 1
- Folkston (Charlton County) — southeast on US 1
- Nahunta (Brantley County) — east on US 82
- Douglas (Coffee County, home of Ware’s longtime football rival) — northwest
Go past those and you are committing to a real trip: Brunswick is about 45 minutes east, Jacksonville about an hour and a half south, Valdosta roughly 70 miles west. This is also not the only formal shop in town — Auviously Glam & Tan in Waycross appears on Faviana’s retailer locator, so it is possible to compare two different design houses without leaving the city limits.
No hours are posted on any listing we could find, and there is no working store website on file. Call before you drive in from another county, particularly in March and April, when prom season in south Georgia is already underway.
