Affinity Bridals is at 125 West Salem Avenue, on the downtown square in Indianola, the Warren County seat in central Iowa, about 14 miles south of Des Moines. It has been family owned since 1991, and it is a bridal shop first — wedding gowns, bridesmaids, mother-of-the-bride. Prom shares that same floor. The shop is also a Jim’s Formal Wear affiliate, so the tuxedo rental is written up at the same counter as the dress, which is unusual for a store this size and saves a second trip to the metro.
The three prom labels that list it
Jovani, Terani Couture and Dave & Johnny all show Affinity Bridals on their official retailer locators. Dave & Johnny is the lightest of the three on beadwork and price; Jovani and Terani are where the heavy stonework and the higher tickets live. The store handles alterations in house, which matters more than it sounds: a beaded Terani hem is not a job to hand to whoever is available three weeks before the dance.
Who this store dresses
Indianola High School is the only high school in the Indianola district, which enrolls roughly 3,600 students K–12. Prom here is a two-part evening: the Grand March in the high school’s north gym, in front of a packed crowd of families, and then the dance itself. Recent years have put the dance at Adventureland’s Palace Theatre in Altoona — the 2024 theme was “Enchanted Forest,” with post-prom at the Blake Fieldhouse running until 2 a.m. A 2022 school announcement had the Grand March at 4:00 p.m. and the dance from 8 to 11. The practical consequence: every gown gets photographed under gym lighting, from every angle, hours before anyone dances in it.
The smaller Warren County districts feed in from the same direction. Southeast Warren, out of Liberty Center and Lacona, enrolls about 440 students across all grades; Martensdale-St. Marys about 530. Interstate 35 at Truro, Carlisle, Norwalk and Pleasantville are all inside a reasonable drive. When a junior class is forty students, two of the same dress in one gym is a genuine risk, and it is worth asking at the counter which gowns have already gone to which school.
The square, and the construction
Indianola sits at the intersection of U.S. 65, U.S. 69 and Iowa 92, so the shop is a straight run down 65 or 69 from the Des Moines side. The square has public parking on all four sides and in mid-block lots; the city publishes a parking map for it. Plan for less of it than usual right now. The city started facade work on eight buildings around the Downtown Square the week of May 11, 2026, funded by a $650,000 Community Development Block Grant plus city and owner match, and the schedule runs about 13 months with periodic sidewalk closures and reduced parking. A Saturday visit during prom season may mean walking a block.

The store’s own site lists Tuesday through Friday 10–6 and Saturday 10–5, closed Monday, and asks customers to call for an appointment: (515) 961-2105. The Jim’s Formal Wear listing for the store adds Sunday 1–4, so confirm by phone before driving in on a Sunday. Because prom shares space with bridal appointments, calling ahead is the difference between a fitting room and a wait.
