A new name and a downtown address

Shoppers who knew Freebird Bridal will find the same idea under a new sign. The site announces it in capital letters, FREEBIRD BRIDAL IS NOW HAUS OF IVORY, and the renovated boutique on Pierce Street opened its doors in August 2025. Owner Breanna Huggins runs a shop that is bridal at heart, but its formal side is busy, and its prom and homecoming page answers the questions families tend to bring in every January.

The room is the point. Haus of Ivory is intentionally small, built around private suites and one-on-one styling. For a prom shopper that means one stylist, a parent or a best friend, and a rack pulled for her instead of a showroom to wander.

What the prom page spells out

Five designers anchor the prom and homecoming collection: Alyce Paris, Ashley Lauren, Ava Presley, Nox Anabel and La Divine. The shop's own FAQ covers most of what a family needs before a first visit.

Price

Formal dresses run $100 to $600 before tax and alterations, and most land between $200 and $400.

Sizes

Try-on samples run from about 4 to 18, with the majority in the 0 to 16 range.

Timing

Three to six months before the dance is the shop's recommended window. On a tighter schedule, it suggests buying a gown off the rack.

Fit

Nearly every formal dress needs some alteration. Haus of Ivory arranges that work through the experienced seamstress it partners with, whose skills the shop praises on its alterations page.

Off the rack or special order, the FAQ says either works.

Walk-ins are welcome for prom, though booked appointments get priority on busy days. The accessories case deserves a look before checkout too, with statement earrings, delicate necklaces, heels, Boombas and press-on nails picked to go with formal gowns.

Keep an eye on the events page. Over Labor Day weekend in 2026 the shop took 20 percent off every homecoming and prom dress, and in August it ran a teacher appreciation offer that took $50 off a formal dress for teachers or for shoppers whose parent teaches, with a school ID.

Getting downtown

The shop shares Pierce Street with the historic Orpheum Theatre, a couple of blocks away. The FAQ points visitors to a free parking lot just north of the building, plus free street parking on weekends, and suggests arriving a few minutes early if downtown is unfamiliar.

The families who make that trip come from all over Siouxland. Bishop Heelan Catholic and Sioux City's East, North and West high schools are minutes away. Le Mars and Sergeant Bluff-Luton send shoppers from the Iowa side of Siouxland, and Dakota Valley and South Sioux City students cross the river from South Dakota and Nebraska.

Are alterations done at Haus of Ivory?

The shop schedules them for you. Its alterations page explains that it partners with a third-party seamstress for everything from simple hems to custom changes on prom and formal gowns, and you can book that appointment through the store.

Is there a fee for paying by card?

The FAQ notes a 3.95 percent processing fee on credit cards. Paying by debit card, cash or check avoids it.
