The Iowa Great Lakes run on summer. Dickinson County draws a tourism economy reported at about $275 million a year, with weekend crowds that have pushed the area population as high as 120,000. Okoboji itself had 768 year-round residents at the 2020 census. Elegance Bridal & Prom Boutique works both halves of that calendar: destination brides in July, and Dickinson County juniors in January and February, when Highway 71 is quiet and the lakes are frozen.
The shop is at 1407 Hwy 71 N, at the Lake Okoboji Resort and Conference Center just north of Arnolds Park. That is a parking lot you can pull straight into rather than a downtown block you circle, which matters when there are three of you and a garment bag.

That is a spread rather than a single house style — Faviana and Dave & Johnny sit at the lighter, simpler end, Alyce Paris and Colette at the more constructed end. The store’s own prom pages also list Primavera, Lucci Lu and Ellie Wilde, and it keeps separate sections for homecoming and short dresses and for prom accessories.
There is a tuxedo and suit rental department in the same building, which is the practical argument for the trip: a dress and a rental measurement in one stop, without a second drive.
The schools this store sits between
The two nearest districts are close enough that their students share the same shop. Okoboji High School is in Milford, five miles south on 71, with roughly 370 students in grades 9–12; its teams are the Pioneers and Spirit Lake is its listed rival. Spirit Lake Community Schools, ten minutes north, runs about 1,300 students K–12 and plays in the Lakes Conference. Beyond those, the trade area pulls from Estherville, Lake Park, Terril and the smaller Clay and Emmet County towns.
Iowa proms open with grand march. Couples are announced and walk the gym floor while the public sits in the bleachers, sometimes for a few dollars’ admission, and the dance follows. It means the dress gets looked at head-on, in gym lighting, by several hundred people who know your family — which is why hem length and how a dress moves on stairs are worth more attention here than the photos suggest. Iowa grand marches generally fall in late April and early May, so the shopping happens in deep winter.
The alternative is Sioux Falls
Grand Bridal in Spencer, straight south on Highway 71 in Clay County, is the other prom-and-bridal option in the immediate area. Past that, a real selection means Sioux Falls, 103 miles and about an hour and three-quarters each way, or Sioux City. For a family in Milford or Spirit Lake, Okoboji is a fifteen-minute drive against a half-day round trip.

Hours posted by the store: Monday through Wednesday 10–5, Thursday 10–6, Friday 10–5, Saturday 10–4, closed Sunday. The shop takes appointments through its own site and describes itself as size inclusive. Elegance has been in business here since 2006 and lists a 20-year anniversary date of December 1 on its events page. Call ahead in January and February; Saturdays in prom season are the busiest hours of the store’s winter.
