Glitz describes itself on Facebook as a prom and pageant store that works by appointment, and its posts say it books six days a week that way. Its Main Street directory listing puts it plainly too: private appointments, and language about “Glitz Girls,” the pink bag, and hearing a customer say she loves her dress. The shop’s own posts also mention layaway and shipping. Practically, that means (270) 789-9898 or a Facebook message comes before the drive, not after arriving to a locked door. Who shops here
Two high schools sit inside the city limits, and they are not large. Campbellsville High School, the Eagles, enrolled 345 students in grades 9–12 in 2023–24 and lists its address as 230 W. Main Street — the same street as the shop, on the other side of the downtown numbering split. Taylor County High School, the Cardinals, is out on Old Hodgenville Road with roughly 823 students. At those enrollments, two identical gowns in one gym is a real risk, so it is worth telling the shop which school and which dance the dress is for when the appointment is made.
The alternative is a ninety-minute drive
Taylor County Tourism puts Campbellsville about an hour and a half from Louisville, Lexington and Bowling Green, and the routes tell the same story. From the south, it is Cumberland Parkway Exit 49 and KY 55 north through Columbia. From the north, I-65 to Elizabethtown, then Hwy. 61 and the back way through Hodgenville. US 68 and KY 70 meet in town. Nothing about the trip to a mall is quick, which is the argument for shopping the Main Street floor first.
The rest of the block is downtown Campbellsville: local shops, restaurants, and Campbellsville University anchoring one end of Main Street. Green River Lake and its state park are about seven miles out, roughly ten minutes from the same downtown, if a dress appointment is going to be the front half of the day.
