West Paducah is not a town. It is an unincorporated stretch of McCracken County west of Paducah, with its own post office on U.S. 60 and a ZIP code holding somewhere under 4,000 people. The prom-dress inventory sitting there is out of proportion to that: Sherri Hill, Jovani, La Femme, Amarra, Alyce Paris, Ashley Lauren, Jessica Angel, Johnathan Kayne and Jasz all list Anne’s Bridals on their official retailer locators. Those are labels that sell through authorized stores rather than online discounters — Kentucky shoppers looking for them are choosing between a boutique like this one and a two-hour interstate drive.
The store has been at 7400 Old Highway 60 West since November 1997, according to its own listings, and it runs two businesses under one name. Bridal is the appointment side, with Justin Alexander among its gown lines. Prom is deliberately not: the shop’s prom Instagram account, separate from its bridal account, states plainly that no reservation or appointment is needed. You can walk in on a Saturday in January and start pulling gowns.
The schools this store serves
McCracken County High School is the closest one, on New Highway 60 — the four-lane road that replaced the two-lane Anne’s sits on. It opened in 2013 when the county folded Heath, Lone Oak and Reidland into a single school, and it enrolled just under 2,000 students in 2022–23. That consolidation matters for dress shopping: what used to be three separate county proms is now one, and one prom means one room where nobody wants to see her dress twice.
Paducah Tilghman, the city school downtown, holds its own prom, and St. Mary adds a third in the county. Past that, the trade area runs out into the rest of the Purchase — Marshall County in Benton, Graves County and Mayfield to the south, the small Ballard and Livingston County schools north and east — plus Metropolis and the Massac County side of the Ohio River, which is a bridge crossing away rather than a trip.
What else is nearby, and what the alternative is
Paducah is the largest city in the Jackson Purchase and sits at the confluence of the Ohio and Tennessee rivers, roughly halfway between St. Louis and Nashville on I-24. Nashville is about 137 miles; Evansville is a comparable drive. That geography is most of the reason a store like this exists here.
The other in-town option is Kentucky Oaks Mall, off I-24 at Exit 4 on Hinkleville Road, where Windsor sells prom dresses off the rack. That is a different transaction — mall pricing, mall sizing, whatever is hanging that day. Anne’s is the designer-label version of the errand, and Old Highway 60 is a five-minute detour off the same US 60 corridor that gets you to the mall.
Pageant and formal work
Pageant is a real part of the business, not an afterthought. The store lists pageant dresses and attire alongside prom and bridal, carries Johnathan Kayne and Ashley Lauren, and has posted interview looks worn by a Miss Kentucky’s Teen contestant. If you are shopping an interview wardrobe rather than one gown, this is a store that has done it before.
Before you drive out
Hours here move with the calendar. The shop’s own website has posted a notice that it changed its hours coming out of prom season and into bridal season, and the hours on third-party listings show a midweek closed day. There is a private lot, so parking is not the problem it would be at the mall on a Saturday in March.
