Jordyn Kelley knows what it feels like to stand under stage lights in a gown. Before she opened Finlyn's Formalwear in Moss Bluff, she spent years in pageantry representing local fairs and festivals, and she finished that run as the 2024 Louisiana Association of Fairs and Festivals Queen. She also worked for several years at a formal wear store, which is where, by her account on the shop's About page, she learned to tell which gown will suit which girl.
The store opened in August 2026. That makes the coming spring its first full prom season, and the racks were stocked with that calendar in mind.
Prom, pageant and everything in between
Finlyn's carries six designers, and the website sorts them by occasion. The prom menu lists Ava Presley, Ashley Lauren, Johnathan Kayne, Colors Dress and Nox Anabel. Portia & Scarlett joins the pageant and homecoming sections. It is a lineup with a clear pageant streak, which makes sense given who picked it. Johnathan Kayne, the priciest line in the online shop, shows up under prom, pageant and homecoming alike.
The About page also explains how the shop came together. Kelley's idea began as a "What if?" that turned into months of renovations and buying trips to market, and her own path ran from trying on gowns in department stores as a preteen to designing custom gowns for herself as a competitor. The store's stated purpose is broad.

The online shop gives a feel for pricing. When this was written, the dresses posted there ran from $298 to $970, with most Ashley Lauren styles in the middle of that range and the Johnathan Kayne gowns at the top. Only about a dozen pieces were listed online, so the floor in Moss Bluff is the place to see the rest.
There is no booking step. A banner across the top of every page of the website says no appointments are needed. Walk in with your mom, your best friend or your whole prom group, and start trying things on. That suits a Moss Bluff family who would rather stop by after school than plan a Saturday around a reserved slot.
A shop on the north side of the river
US 171 is the main road through Moss Bluff, the community just north of Lake Charles across the Calcasieu River, and Finlyn's sits right on it. For families in Moss Bluff, Gillis and Ragley, that puts a formal shop on their side of the bridge. Mail goes to a Lake Charles address, but anyone local will tell you this is Moss Bluff.
Sam Houston High, the Broncos, is the neighborhood school, and its students are the store's nearest prom customers. Barbe and LaGrange students come up from south Lake Charles, Westlake lies to the southwest, and Iowa High is out to the east. The shop's About page sets out to serve women "from far and wide" as well as local communities, which means pageant girls from all over southwest Louisiana are welcome on the same floor.
