Prom dresses are back on the racks at The Silhouette, and the little Faribault County shop brought a promise along with them. The store has been dressing wedding parties and formal events in Easton since 1981. When it reintroduced prom, it put a dress registry right on the prom page.

In this corner of southern Minnesota, where graduating classes are counted in dozens, that promise carries weight. A duplicate gown at a big suburban prom can go unnoticed among five hundred couples. At a small-town grand march, where every couple is announced one at a time, nobody wants to share a dress with the girl walking two spots ahead.
Prom labels and the dressing room rule
The store names Amarra, Primavera and Clarisse as its headline prom designers and adds that there are more on the racks. All three are names prom shoppers already know from the bigger metro stores, and seeing them on a small-town rack means trying them on without the drive.

The dressing room rule is the one to plan around. If three friends want to try on together on a Saturday, that means three bookings, made early enough that the rooms are still open. The water-only rule is easy to forget when a shopping trip turns into an afternoon.

The shop opens prom season with a kick-off party. The 2026 edition ran on the evening of Wednesday, January 14, with appointments that the shop warned would fill fast, and the 2027 date was still listed as to be decided as of this October. Watching for that announcement is the easiest way to be there when the season starts.
Easton itself is tiny, a farm town between Wells and Blue Earth, which is exactly why the store draws from a wide circle. Students from United South Central in Wells, Blue Earth Area, Maple River in Mapleton and Fairmont all live within an easy run of the shop, and Albert Lea High School is not much farther east. For families in those districts, a dress, a registry check and a tux rental can happen in the same small storefront.
The bridal business is still the bigger share of the calendar, with wedding gowns, plus-size bridal, bridesmaids and mothers' dresses. Prom season simply gets its own party, its own designers and that registry.
