Easton counted 177 residents at the 2020 census, on less than a square mile of Faribault County in southern Minnesota. The Silhouette has been on its Main Street since 1981. Most of the year it is a bridal store — wedding gowns, plus-size wedding gowns, bridesmaids, mothers, menswear — and prom shares the same building and the same fitting rooms. That is the single most important thing to know before you drive over.
The store puts it plainly on its prom page: one appointment reserves one dressing room. If four girls want to shop together, all four book separately. There is a wrinkle in the store’s own wording worth calling out — the homepage says The Silhouette operates on an appointment basis only, while the prom page says walk-ins are accommodated as availability allows. Call first rather than betting on the second version.
The dress list is actually enforced
Every prom dress sold here is tracked to a specific prom. That is a routine promise at large stores and a meaningful one at this scale. United South Central High School in Wells, the district Easton belongs to, enrolls roughly 348 students across grades seven through twelve. A prom drawn from a school that size cannot absorb a duplicate gown quietly, and the register is the store’s answer to it.
Brands and menswear
Amarra and Clarisse both list The Silhouette on their official retailer locators. The store’s own prom page also names Primavera. Tuxedos are handled in-house, as full head-to-toe rentals or purchases, and the store will also sell a single tie or vest to a date who only needs to match a color.
January is when the season opens. The 2026 prom kick-off party ran on Wednesday, January 14, from 5 to 8 p.m., with appointments booked in advance; as of this writing the 2027 date is still listed as to be determined.

Who drives in, and from how far
The United South Central district pulls from Wells, Easton, Bricelyn, Kiester, Walters and Freeborn. Buses also come into Easton for families enrolled at Maple River, which covers Minnesota Lake, Mapleton, Amboy and Good Thunder. Blue Earth Area — Blue Earth, Winnebago, Frost, Delavan and Elmore — is the next district over. All of that sits inside a county of about 13,900 people whose southern edge is the Iowa line.
Wells, the nearest town of any size at roughly 2,300, is 20 miles from Albert Lea, 25 from Blue Earth and 35 from Mankato. Highway 109 is the east-west connector, running from US 169 at Winnebago past the Highway 22 junction at Wells out to I-90 at Alden. The nearest stores that sell prom dresses and nothing else are in Mankato, at the far end of that 35 miles: Glitz Prom out on Highway 22 and JSK Prom and Bridal on Adams Street, the latter open seasonally. For a family in Kiester or Frost, Easton is the short trip and Mankato is the day out.
