Prom by appointment at The Meadows: Boulevard Bride, Lake St. Louis

An appointment-only prom and bridal shop at The Meadows off Highway 40, stocking Jovani, Faviana, Amarra and Dave & Johnny for Wentzville's four high schools.

Est. 2013

The Wentzville School District runs four high schools — Holt, Liberty, North Point and Timberland — across an 89-square-mile area that takes in all or part of Lake Saint Louis, O’Fallon, Wentzville, Dardenne Prairie and Foristell. It has been adding roughly 500 students a year, which makes it one of the fastest-growing districts in Missouri. Liberty High sits on Sommers Road, on the same side of Highway 40 as Boulevard Bride, which is in Suite 304 at The Meadows. Four separate proms pull from the same few towns, and this is one of the few designer prom rooms inside that ring.

It runs on appointments, not walk-in browsing

This is not a floor you comb through on a Saturday afternoon. The shop lists itself as by appointment and describes one-on-one sessions with a stylist pulling gowns; Yelp shows it closed Mondays, with midweek evening hours and earlier closing on Friday and Saturday. Call first. Two girls from the same school arriving at the same hour is exactly the scenario an appointment book exists to prevent.

The four verified prom labels

  • Jovani — the fitted, heavily worked end of the prom market.
  • Amarra — beadwork and structure, similar tier.
  • Faviana — red-carpet-derived silhouettes. The store has promoted an exclusive Faviana curvy prom collection and says it expanded its prom inventory.
  • Dave & Johnny — usually the most accessible of the four, and where short dresses and homecoming pieces tend to come from.

Each of those four brands lists this address on its own retailer locator. The shop describes its gown range as sizes 6 through 34W. One caution about numbers you may see online: the $1,000–$4,000 figure on the store’s own site is for bridal gowns, not prom, so do not walk in braced for it. Its listed general price bracket is $$.

A bridal shop that also does prom

Bridal is the main business here, and it has been since 2013. That shapes what you get in March. There are mothers’ dresses, so a mom shopping a spring wedding may already know the room. There are tuxedo and suit rentals, which means a date’s jacket and the dress can be handled at one address. Alterations are done in-house, along with dress preservation and custom veils — useful, because a prom hem ordered in February still has to be finished by April.

Getting there, and what else is on the trip

The Meadows sits at Highway 40 and Lake Saint Louis Boulevard: an open-air center laid out like a town square, with a fountain plaza in the middle, storefront parking and more than 35 shops and restaurants. You park in front of the door rather than hiking a mall concourse, and you can eat without moving the car. Coming from Wentzville or Foristell it is a straight run east on 40; from O’Fallon and St. Peters, west.

The alternative matters here. Heading east, the next Jovani retailer is over in Chesterfield on Clayton Road — across the Missouri River, past the Daniel Boone Bridge, into county traffic. For a family in Wentzville or Lake St. Louis, this address is the version of that errand that does not involve crossing the river on a Saturday.
