  1. First flap

    Prom gets the most room

    Prom dresses, long and short, lead the floor, in silhouettes from ball gowns, mermaids and column dresses to bodycon cuts and more. Handbags and jewelry are there to go with the dress.

  2. Two more flaps: homecoming dresses for the fall dance season, and quinceañera gowns.

  3. The last flap holds cocktail and evening dresses, plus bridesmaid and guest-of-wedding dresses. Wedding gowns are not carried, since the Des Peres store has no bridal salon.

Petite and plus

Petites for five foot four and under

Camille La Vie designs its petites for women about five foot four and under, and adjusts the bodice proportions as well as the hem length. So a petite gown is cut on its own lines, not simply shortened.

Plus-size cuts have a line of their own on the prom floor.

Camille La Vie launched in 1985, with a mission of celebrating milestones from a first prom dress to a wedding gown.

The company also gives prom and wedding dresses to nonprofit groups around the country, so more girls can attend the dances they dream about.
