Start with the sign, because it will save an argument in the parking lot. The store at 715 Gum Branch Road, Suite 5-A operates as Something Bleu Bridal House and Formal Wear, and its own website still carries the line “formerly Classics Bridal and Prom.” Same suite, same phone: (910) 353-1647. If you were sent here by an older listing, a cousin, or a search result, you are in the right place.
It is a family-owned boutique that handles the whole formal calendar rather than prom alone — bridal gowns, bridesmaids, mothers of the bride and groom, quinceañera, prom and special occasion, plus tuxedo rental through Jim’s Formal Wear and Generation Tux. For a household getting one teenager into a gown and one adult into a tux, that is one stop instead of two.

The trade area is basically Onslow County and the edges of it. Onslow County Schools runs Jacksonville, Northside, White Oak, Swansboro, Dixon, Richlands and Southwest high schools, along with Onslow Early College — seven or eight separate prom dates within a half-hour of this door, which is the reason a shop this size can carry six prom labels at once. Add Lejeune High School, which sits aboard Camp Lejeune, is run by the Department of Defense Education Activity, and enrolls around 500 students. Its teams are the Devilpups.
Camp Lejeune changes how this store’s year works. Long dresses are not only a spring purchase in Jacksonville; the Marine Corps birthday ball in November is its own gown season, and the same racks serve it. It also means a share of the girls walking in have been in town for four months, do not know where anything is, and are shopping for a prom at a school they just transferred into. A shop that also fits mothers and rents tuxes is a reasonable first call in that situation.
Before you drive
Hours here are posted month by month rather than fixed year-round; when we checked, the site listed 10:00 to 6:00 on Monday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Bridal is by appointment and the shop states appointments are required. Call (910) 353-1647 before making the trip in from Sneads Ferry, Hubert or Richlands.
Two things worth knowing about what you will find online. Yelp still shows a “Classics” page listing 365 Jacksonville Mall in the 28546 ZIP — that is not where the store is now; Gum Branch Road and 28540 are current. And the review record under the old name is thin and mixed: WeddingWire shows 3.6 out of 5 across eight reviews, nearly all of them about weddings rather than prom, several of them years old. That is not much to judge a prom visit on in either direction. The shop’s own site also advertises a Best of North Carolina regional win in the bridal and formal shops category; that claim comes from the store, and we did not find independent confirmation of it.
Jacksonville is not a one-shop town for formalwear — Downtown Formal & Bridal and Loft Bridal Bar also come up in local listings — and Wilmington, down US 17, is the nearest market with real depth. But those are drives, and this one is on Gum Branch Road.
