Six people who already worked in the bridal trade pooled their experience and opened this store in February 2005. Several years later they added a second shop on Route 8 in Gibsonia, on the other side of Pittsburgh. The Murrysville original is still the one on Old William Penn Highway, a few hundred feet off Route 22 in Westmoreland County.
Prom here shares a roof with weddings, and that shapes the visit. The business describes itself as a bridal, bridesmaid and mother-of-the-bride boutique that also carries prom, so the prom racks sit in a store built around scheduled appointments rather than walk-in browsing. The staff asks that shoppers call first.
Four prom labels are confirmed through the brands’ own retailer locators: Jovani, Terani, La Femme and Dave & Johnny. That is a fairly high-end group of names for a suburban shop of this size. Getting there, and who’s nearby
Old William Penn Highway is the older alignment that runs alongside US 22 through town, meeting it at a light near the brick “Gateway to Westmoreland County” sign. It carries roughly 20,000 vehicles a day and it is where most of Murrysville’s everyday retail sits — the Market District and Sheetz end of William Penn Highway is a minute or two away, which makes this an easy stop to fold into a Saturday of other errands rather than a dedicated trip.
Franklin Regional Senior High School is in Murrysville itself, close enough that this is the nearest formalwear shop for a good share of its students. Franklin Regional runs a march-in before the dance, with families watching from the high school auditorium; one recent prom was held at Heinz Field in Pittsburgh. Plum, Penn-Trafford, Gateway, Kiski Area and Norwin are all within a reasonable drive of the store as well.
The alternatives are not far, which is worth knowing. Less than ten miles west on Route 22 you reach Monroeville, with a David’s Bridal and The Dress Shop at Monroeville Mall. Southeast toward Greensburg there is a cluster of independents including Millers’ Prom and Formal Wear, The Prom Shoppe and MB Bride. Murrysville sits between those two poles, and this is the shop in the middle.
