Two things matter before anyone drives here. The shop is at 215 Hawks Rd, Suite 5, and the number is (731) 281-4081. A large share of the directory listings still online — Yelp, Yellow Pages, Yahoo, an old Jovani locator page — put the store downtown at 401 N Lindell Street on a 587 number. The Weakley County Chamber of Commerce lists Lana’s Formals, LLC at the Hawks Road suite. Use that one.
The second thing is the schedule. The shop’s own Instagram profile lists hours of 3 to 5 on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, and 11 to 3 on Saturday — roughly ten hours a week, most of them after the school day ends. That is a real constraint if the drive is coming from Gleason or across the Kentucky line, and a reason to call before leaving rather than after arriving.
What is on the racks
Three prom labels list this store on their official retailer locators: Alyce Paris, Dave & Johnny and Tiffany Designs. Alyce Paris and Tiffany Designs both run heavier beaded and stoned gowns that hold up under stage lighting; Dave & Johnny is a juniors prom line. The store also turns up on Jim’s Formal Wear’s affiliate list, which means tuxedo rental is handled in the same room as the dress.
Pageant is not a sideline in Martin. The Miss University of Tennessee at Martin / Miss Weakley County pageant is a Miss Tennessee Volunteer preliminary, held in Watkins Auditorium at the Boling University Center on campus — the 2025 edition ran on September 14. UT Martin enrolled about 7,500 students in fall 2024, and the campus sits a few blocks west of Hawks Road along University Street. Sorority formals and homecoming pull from the same racks as the county’s high schools.
Whose prom this is
Weakley County Schools runs four high schools, and all of them are inside a twenty-minute radius of this parking lot:
- Westview High School, Martin — the closest, on Highway 45, about 560 students in grades 9–12. It was Martin High School before consolidation.
- Dresden High School, Dresden — nine miles east on Highway 22.
- Greenfield School, Greenfield — a PK–12 school of about 454 students, so the senior class is small.
- Gleason School, Gleason — PK–12, about 393 students total.
Sharon School stops at eighth grade, so its students feed elsewhere. The district as a whole serves close to 4,000 students and calls itself the largest school system in northwest Tennessee, which says more about the scale of the region than the scale of the district. In a county where a graduating class can be forty people, a repeated dress is not a hypothetical, and asking the shop directly which schools a gown has already gone to is a reasonable question.
The alternatives, and how far they are
Hawks Road is off one of Martin’s main retail corridors, near where Skyhawk Parkway meets University Street, so the trip folds into ordinary errands. Beyond that, the options thin out. The chamber lists one other formalwear shop in the county, Special Occasion, on South Front Street in Greenfield, about fifteen minutes south. Union City is twenty minutes northwest. After that it is Jackson, an hour south on US 45, or Paducah about the same distance north — both full-day trips once fittings and traffic are counted.
Southern prom season runs early. Weakley County proms land in April, well before the Northeast, which means dress shopping here is a January-through-March activity and the good weeks at a shop open ten hours a week fill quickly. Alterations time has to come out of that same calendar.
