Tulle is a storefront on Allen Street in Clinton, a Rock County village of 2,221 people in southern Wisconsin. Prom runs as its own side of the business, separate enough from bridal to carry its own name and its own Instagram account, Tulle Prom Boutique. Everything is by appointment; the shop’s site lists no walk-in hours.
It publishes its prom prices, which is uncommon enough to lead with:
- New prom gowns: $259 to $600
- Off-the-rack sale gowns: $99 to $299
- Sample sizes on the floor: 2 through 18
The shop dates its prom season from the end of December through April. That timing matters for anyone hoping to buy off the sale rack rather than special-order: the racks are fullest in January and February, and a March appointment is a different shopping trip than a January one.
Four prom labels in a village of 2,200
Alyce Paris, Amarra, Clarisse and Dave & Johnny all list Tulle on their official retailer locators. Morilee lists it too, for wedding and bridesmaid gowns.
Clinton’s own high school had about 320 students across grades 9 through 12 in 2023–24. A shop drawing only on Clinton would not support four prom brands. The trade area is the ring around it: Beloit Turner and Beloit Memorial, Janesville Craig and Parker, Big Foot in Walworth, Delavan-Darien, Evansville and Whitewater, plus the Illinois side. Tulle describes its own market as the Stateline area and names Beloit, Janesville, Rockford, Rockton, Roscoe, Delavan and Lake Geneva among the places its customers come from.
The drive is short from most of that: roughly 10 road miles from Beloit, about 15 from Janesville, under 30 from Rockford, around 55 from Madison. WIS 140 runs south out of the village to the Illinois border — WisDOT measured that stretch at four miles when it rebuilt the road in 2025 — and meets I-43 at Clinton, so the shop is reachable from the interstate without driving through anything. Janesville, Beloit and Rockford all have other prom retail; Clinton has this.
The room
The building is old and the shop leans on it rather than covering it: century-old maple floors, cream city brick, beadboard ceilings, all restored. On the bridal side only one appointment is booked at a time. Prom is not run that way, but the scale of the place is the same — a single storefront, not a showroom floor.
Who runs it
Kayla grew up in Clinton, went to UW–Madison on a track and field scholarship, and spent eight years as a business analyst in Minneapolis before moving back with her husband to be near family. When the Allen Street building came up for sale, she talked with the owners of the town’s earlier bridal shop about whether a small-town shop could work before committing. Tulle opened in January 2019.

Suits and tuxedos are rented or sold here as well, through Dubois Formalwear and Jim’s Formalwear, with home delivery offered. For a couple coming in from Roscoe or Milton, that is one appointment instead of two towns.
