The most useful thing to know before driving here is the price floor. On its own catalog, the prom section runs roughly $490 to $990, with most styles landing in the $600s and $700s and Jovani accounting for the bulk of them. That is the whole story of who this shop is for: a family that wants to try on a designer gown in person rather than order one sight-unseen. A shopper hunting a $150 dress should look elsewhere.
Susan Rose is a 2,000-square-foot showroom at 9829 W Sample Rd, about a mile east of the point where Sample Road begins at the Sawgrass Expressway in northwest Broward County. It carries Alyce Paris, Jovani, La Femme and Terani, all four confirmed through the brands’ own retailer locators, and the store stocks sizes 2 through 30.
Prom is one season out of several on this floor. The same showroom dresses mother-of-the-bride and grandmother-of-the-bride customers, bat mitzvah girls, quinceañeras and sweet sixteens — the store keeps a separate bat mitzvah collection and has run it for years. In a city where roughly three in ten residents are Hispanic or Latino and about a third of residents were born outside the United States, that mix is not a marketing gesture; it is what the local calendar actually demands. The practical consequence for a prom shopper is that this is not a warehouse of a thousand prom dresses. It is a curated evening-wear room where prom occupies part of the space.
By the store’s own account, the business started in Plantation and moved north to Coral Springs in 2019, and it dates itself to 1985.

Sample Road is the spine of this part of the city, and the store is on it, west of the high schools it serves:

All of them are Broward County Public Schools calendars, which means the prom crush lands in the same few spring weekends across five schools at once. Ordering a special-size or special-color gown takes weeks, so February and March visits leave room that April visits do not.
Getting there and going in
The Sample Road interchange at the Sawgrass is in the middle of a $110 million widening project, and Florida’s Turnpike Enterprise is converting it to a partial diverging diamond — a pattern that briefly puts drivers on the opposite side of the road — with the new configuration due to open in fall 2026. Anyone coming up from Sunrise or in from Weston should expect the ramp layout to have changed since their last trip. From inside Coral Springs, it is a simple drive west on Sample past Coral Ridge Drive.
The store is closed Sunday and takes appointments through its website; it also answers calls and texts at (954) 472-2120, and lists after-hours appointments by request. Its own pages disagree about Monday — one lists 10 to 5, another lists it closed — so a Monday trip is worth a phone call first.
Coral Square, at Atlantic and University, is the department-store alternative a few minutes southeast, and it is a different kind of shopping: chain fitting rooms, a hundred-plus stores, no designer trunk stock. Susan Rose is the version of the trip where one gown gets ordered in a specific size and altered to fit.
