The address that still follows this shop around the internet — 4545 Transit Rd, Williamsville — is not a storefront anymore. That is the Eastern Hills Mall, whose interior was closed in January 2024 while Uniland and Mountain Development work on converting the 106-acre site into a town center of apartments, offices, restaurants and green space. Bella Que went north on the same road. It is now at 9410 Transit Rd in Amherst Place Plaza, East Amherst, on the stretch of Transit between Casey and North French Roads. The phone number, (716) 626-6305, did not change.
Transit Road is the town line here, Amherst on one side and Clarence on the other, and it is the retail spine for the whole northeast corner of Erie County in Western New York. Traffic on this block of Transit runs somewhere around 27,000 vehicles a day, which tells you what kind of trip this is: a plaza errand, not a destination. Plato’s Closet sits a few doors up at 9490, so a teenager who wants to look at secondhand as well as new can do both without moving the car. Transit also runs straight north as Route 78 toward Pendleton and Lockport, which makes the drive from those districts one road and no turns.
The labels on the racks
Nine designer lines list Bella Que on their own official retailer locators: Jovani, La Femme, Terani, Faviana, Alyce Paris, Amarra, Colette, Dave & Johnny and Jasz. That is a prom-first roster rather than a bridal one. The shop’s own social accounts describe the mix as seasonal prom and homecoming, pageant gowns, mother-of-the-bride, and wedding-guest dresses, and they begin advertising the coming prom season in the winter.
The Jovani retailer page for New York names only two Buffalo-area stockists: Bella Que and The Jacqueline Shoppe on Main Street in Williamsville. If a specific Jovani style is what brought you out, those are both on the same side of the metro area, so comparing them is a short drive rather than a day trip.
Hours are the thing to plan around
Listings show noon to 6 Monday through Saturday and noon to 5 on Sunday, and the store’s Instagram bio has at times read Tuesday through Saturday instead. Either way there are no morning hours, and a Saturday afternoon in season is the busiest window there is. Call first.
What the fittings sound like
Bella Que is thinly documented beyond its own posts, so the most reliable picture of a visit comes from customer reviews — 52 on one aggregator, and 38 on Facebook with 94 percent recommending. Several describe the owner working the floor herself and staying with one customer for an hour. One reviewer credits her with suggesting a small dropped sleeve that changed the look of a gown, and with connecting her to a seamstress. Others mention staff pulling styles into the fitting room unprompted and offering to order a dress in a different size or color when the floor sample was close but not right. For a small shop, ordering in a size is the practical difference between a dress that works and a dress that gets altered twice.
The closest high schools are Williamsville East and Williamsville North, both in the district’s northern end; Clarence High School is a few minutes east on Main. Williamsville South, Sweet Home and Amherst Central are all a straight shot down Transit or across Sheridan.
