Most prom stores empty out in July. This one has a different calendar. On its own site, 2 B Seen lists bat mitzvah and sweet 16 dresses ahead of prom, and that order says something true about where it sits. The Plainview–Syosset–Jericho corner of Nassau County is home to roughly 30,000 Jewish adults and 4,000 Jewish children across about 17,000 households, according to UJA-Federation’s community study — which means a steady year-round run of b’nai mitzvah parties, not a single spring rush. Prom is the loudest season here, not the only one.
The shop has been at this since 1994, by its own account, at 206 Jericho Turnpike — strip retail on NY 25, the road that carries most of the east-west traffic through this part of the county. The Seaford–Oyster Bay Expressway (NY 135) begins at Jericho Turnpike in Syosset, so the store is reachable from Bethpage and the south shore without going near the Long Island Expressway. Head east on the same road and you reach Crest Hollow Country Club at 8325 Jericho Turnpike in Woodbury, which books proms, sweet 16s and bar and bat mitzvah parties. A fair number of the dresses sold here get worn a few minutes down the same street.
Alterations are the actual selling point
The store keeps a seamstress on site and says fittings come with the dress rather than as a separate line item. That claim shows up again in customer reviews across listing sites — hemming and taking in done at no added charge, often on a deadline — and a staff member named Fran is mentioned by name over and over in them. If you have ever bought a gown in the size the manufacturer cut and then paid a tailor across town another two hundred dollars to make it fit, that is the difference worth driving for.

Hours on the store’s own site are Tuesday through Saturday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Sunday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., closed Monday. The store also takes private appointments outside walk-in hours, and reviewers describe phoning ahead about a specific style and having it held at the counter — worth doing if you are coming from Suffolk or the south shore.
There is no online checkout. Everything happens in the store. Long Island proms fall between mid-May and late June depending on the district, which puts serious shopping in January through March, before the popular styles in your size are gone. Syosset High School alone enrolls about 2,370 students, and the Jericho, Plainview-Old Bethpage, Hicksville, Oyster Bay and Woodbury districts all sit within a short drive of this block. That is a lot of people shopping the same racks on the same weekends.
