No booking app, no appointment window to chase. At Bella You, prom is walk-in only, and the store says so on its prom page: "We will not be accepting Prom Appointments. Walk-in Only." In Irondequoit and the towns around it, that rule is exactly what draws families to Culver Ridge Plaza. You show up after school, sign in, and start trying on.
The shop sits inside Culver Ridge Plaza on East Ridge Road, and it has been open since 1999, run by a mother and daughter team. Its welcome page calls it a locally owned boutique, and the size of the place shows in how carefully the prom rules are written.
How a walk-in prom visit works
The posted process is specific enough to plan around:
- Register at the counter when you arrive, before you start shopping.
- Bring no more than two guests.
- A stylist helps with sizing and points you toward the look you have in mind, and you pick three dresses to start.
- Each style is checked against your event before you try it on.
- You get roughly 30 minutes in the dressing room, and if time runs out, the store will add you back to the waitlist.
- In winter, shoes come off at the door to protect the gowns. Bring slippers if socks bother you; boot covers are on hand.
The store's own tip for a calmer trip is shop during the week, and anyone who has seen a plaza parking lot in late March will understand why.
What is on the racks
Bella You's FAQ lists its prom designers as Faviana, Nina Canacci, Jasz Couture, Jessica Angel, Alyce, Aerie, Lucci Lu, Abby Paris and a private collection. Prom and special occasion gowns can be ordered from size 0 to 32, depending on the designer.
Any gown can be bought off the rack, and some styles qualify for a discount. The shop also works with designers who can deliver in as little as two weeks, which is useful when a dance date sneaks up. Layaway and special-order payment plans are available, and alterations are not included in the price, but the store has a seamstress who has been altering for its customers for over 20 years.
Irondequoit, Webster and the East Ridge Road regulars
East Ridge Road is the everyday retail strip for this side of Monroe County, New York, and the plaza at Ridge and Culver is an easy trip for students from Irondequoit High School, Eastridge High School and Bishop Kearney. Webster Thomas and Webster Schroeder sit just east in Webster, and the store's one-style-per-event rule means classmates from any of those schools can shop the same racks without ending up twins.
The same floor also handles bridal, bridesmaids, mothers of the wedding and quinceanera, plus tuxedo and suit consultations, but prom runs on its own posted rules, separate from bridal.

Can I book a prom appointment?
No. The prom page says the store is not accepting prom appointments and runs prom as walk-in only. If you are planning to come in with a group of friends who are all shopping, phone the shop ahead of time and ask how best to time it.
Will someone else at my prom have my dress?
Not from Bella You. The shop sells one of each style per event and checks every dress against your event before you try it on.
