Two storefronts, one shopping center. The prom side operates out of 6286 Glenwood Ave. and runs on a calendar — it opens for the season, and once the last spring dance is over the racks come down and the website posts a note thanking shoppers for the year. The parent business, Savvi Formalwear & Bridal, sits a few doors down at 6220 Glenwood Ave., Suite 110, and works brides, mothers of the bride and groom, and tuxedo groups twelve months a year. Both are in Pleasant Valley Promenade, at the corner of Glenwood Avenue — US 70 — and Pleasant Valley Road in northwest Raleigh, one of the busier retail corners in Wake County, North Carolina.
That split is the practical thing to know before driving over. If you are shopping in January for an April prom, you want the prom store. If it is July and you are hunting a gown for a summer military ball or a quinceañera, the prom store may be closed and the year-round store is the one to call.

What is on the racks
Alyce Paris, Dave & Johnny and Faviana all list this store on their official retailer locators. Savvi also names Colette and Ellie Wilde for Mon Cheri, Colors, Sydney’s Closet and a set of private-label lines among its prom designers. The store says it stocks sizes 00 through 32 in the building, not just in a catalog — worth knowing if past dress shopping has meant ordering blind off a sample. Prom tuxedos are available to rent or buy, and group rentals get handled at the wedding store in the same center.
How buying works here
- No appointment. You can walk in and try on.
- In-stock gowns go home with you the same day.
- Alterations are not done in-house. The store hands you a list of local seamstresses it trusts and tells you to allow two weeks — and warns that March through June is the crush for every seamstress in the area.
- All sales are final. No refunds, no credits, no cancellations. Read that twice before you hand over a card.
Who drives here
Wake County’s school system alone runs 25 high schools, and their proms stack up across the same few weekends in April and May, which is why a Glenwood Avenue shop can support a store that exists only in season. Leesville Road High School, with roughly 2,400 students, is north of the center off Leesville Road. Savvi’s own thank-you list names customers from Raleigh, Durham, Cary, Apex, Garner, Wake Forest, Fuquay-Varina, Smithfield and as far east as Greenville.
The location is easy to fold into an errand. Crabtree Valley Mall — the largest enclosed mall in the Triangle, open since 1972 — is farther down Glenwood toward the I-440 interchange, so shoes and a second opinion are minutes away. Pleasant Valley Promenade itself carries 40-plus tenants across more than 362,000 square feet of retail.
WRAL’s Triangle prom guide has grouped Savvi with the other shops families use in this market: Chique Prom in Raleigh, Cousin Couture in Fuquay-Varina, Jewel’s Formals in downtown Smithfield (open since 1991), Formalwear Outlet in Hillsborough and The Dress Boutique at Merle Norman in Burlington. For a Raleigh or Cary family, Savvi is the in-town stop; for someone coming from Johnston or Pitt County, it is a longer trip that usually gets combined with the mall.
Listed in-season prom hours run Monday through Friday 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Sunday noon to 5 p.m.; the year-round store lists Monday through Friday 11 to 7 and Saturday 10 to 5. Seasonal hours move, so call before you go.
