The address on this listing, 230 W. Huron Rd. inside Tower City Centre, is the one that still shows up on brand retailer locators and review sites. The store’s own website now leads with a move announcement: Darlafoxx Bridal & Formal is at 10333 Northfield Road in Northfield Village, Summit County, Ohio, in Summit Plaza behind Handel’s Ice Cream and minutes from Macedonia. The site says the buildout of the new boutique is still being finished and that appointments are available on a limited basis during the transition. The phone number is unchanged. Anyone about to drive downtown for a prom appointment should call first.
How shopping here works
Darlafoxx is appointment only, and that is not a formality. The shop sends a short questionnaire before a visit so gowns are pulled and waiting; several customers describe walking in to find a rack already assembled for them. Prom appointments run in one-hour slots, and the store limits itself to three customers per hour per consultant. A parent or legal guardian has to be present for any high school student trying on or buying a gown.

Owner Darlene “Darla” James told Spectrum News 1 in 2023 that she had spent about 15 years selling prom dresses and never went to her own prom, and that she once lived in one of her dressing rooms for a year rather than close the business. Yelp’s listing, written by the shop, dates the business to 2014 and to Bedford. Those two accounts do not line up, so treat any single founding year with suspicion.
What the new location is near
Northfield Road is State Route 8. Summit Plaza sits on it a few blocks up from MGM Northfield Park, with McDonald’s, Firestone and a Summit County title bureau branch in the same center, and it is a short run from I-271 and I-480. That puts the shop in the middle of the Nordonia Hills school district — Northfield Village, Northfield Center, Sagamore Hills and Macedonia, where Nordonia High School is on South Bedford Road. Follow the same road north across the county line and you reach Bedford High School at 481 Northfield Rd., which is roughly where the business says it started.
The tradeoff is real. Downtown, Darlafoxx occupied the former Brooks Brothers space in Terminal Tower, above the station where every GCRTA rail line converges and an estimated 30,000 people a day pass through — a student in Shaker Heights or on the west side could get to a dress appointment on the train. Northfield Village is a driving trip. What it adds is a plaza parking lot instead of validated garage stubs and a valet policy.
The downtown years also produced the DarlaFoxx Runway Model Challenge in Tower City’s Skylight Park in February 2024, with models aged 3 to 19 and a panel of local judges. Whether that kind of event travels to a strip plaza on Route 8 is an open question.
