By its own site's account, Chally Bridal & Prom is the largest bridal and prom boutique in Texas, and the numbers listed there put real scale behind the claim: a 40,000-square-foot showroom holding thousands of gowns. Its About page goes further for the teenagers in the room, describing Chally as the largest prom and pageant store in Texas. The shop opened in 2023 at The Shops at Willow Bend in Plano and has since moved to Stonebriar Centre in Frisco, where its homepage now places it in the heart of the city.
For prom shoppers, the most important line on that homepage is a short one. Bridal and quinceañera dresses are by appointment only. Everyone else is welcome to walk in. That means a prom shopper can show up on a weeknight with a friend and a phone full of screenshots, and start pulling dresses.
The family behind the racks
Chally is new to North Texas. Its owners are not new to the business. Community Impact reported that owners James and Ann Kang spent 25 years running a bridal boutique in St. Louis before moving to be closer to their children, Chris and Ally. The store's name blends theirs. Retirement did not last. Ann Kang told the paper she retired for a year and a half, went back to the trade shows, and could not stay away. The shop's own site puts the couple's experience at 30 years.
That background shows up in how prom gets bought. Ann Kang told Community Impact she picks inventory on material, workmanship and price, and she was direct about what teenagers want:
Prom girls don't want to buy the same dresses. They are very happy that we have different designers they are able to choose from... which are more exclusive to our store.
The prom department on the website is organized by those designers. The current lineup includes Johnathan Kayne, Jovani, Rachel Allan, Terani and The Best Ten, with a separate Terani pageant collection for girls who compete. The About page promises cutting-edge and classic styles that come in right off the runway, and stylists who guide each shopper toward the right dress for prom, pageant, sweet 16 or any other formal event.
Do some homework at home first. The website lets shoppers filter for in-store stock and search by up to three sizes at once, then narrow by color, neckline, silhouette, fabric and details like slits, corsets or pockets. Save the favorites to a wish list, screenshot the style numbers, and walk in with a plan. In a showroom this size, that habit turns an overwhelming afternoon into a focused one. It also helps the stylist, who can start pulling from your list while you settle into a fitting room. The About page says the staff gives personalized attention to every guest, and a clear shortlist makes that attention go further.
How each department works
Chally's FAQ and appointment pages spell out the rules by department. The short version below comes entirely from the store's own site.
| Department | How to shop it | Good to know |
|---|---|---|
| Prom | Walk in | Prom dresses start at $200 |
| Pageant and evening | Walk in | Terani pageant and evening lines carried |
| Quinceañera | Appointment required | A $50 appointment charge is credited back to the dress purchase |
| Mother of the bride | Walk in | Priced from $275 to $1,000 |
| Bridal | Appointment required | Same-day appointments offered |
A few other policies help with planning. The shop does not rent dresses, but it stresses a wide range of price points instead. It accepts cash, debit cards, Visa, Mastercard and Discover. Alterations are handled outside the store rather than by an in-house department, so leave room in your calendar to find a seamstress before the dance. The site's in-stock search runs from size 000 through 32, plus 14W to 32W, so curvy prom shoppers are part of the plan from the start.
The date is covered too. Chally's tuxedo page connects shoppers with Generation Tux for prom and homecoming suit rentals, built online and shipped 14 days before the event. The gown comes from Frisco, the tux comes by mail, and nobody has to cross the Metroplex twice.
Who will find it handy
Stonebriar Centre sits at Preston Road and State Highway 121, a natural meeting point for most of Collin and Denton counties. Frisco ISD students have the shortest trip of anyone: Frisco, Centennial, Liberty, Wakeland, Lone Star, Heritage, Independence, Reedy, Lebanon Trail, Memorial and Panther Creek high schools are all close. Plano West Senior High School is down the Dallas North Tollway, and The Colony and Hebron high schools in Lewisville ISD, plus Prosper and Allen high schools, sit in the neighboring districts. Families who shopped the old Willow Bend floor in Plano will find the new store farther up the tollway in Frisco.
The bridal salon is big too, with curvy bridal gowns as a specialty, but in this guide it is the prom floor that earns Chally its place among the biggest formal stops in Collin County, Texas.
Prom shoppers' questions about the Frisco showroom
Can I rent a prom dress at Chally?
No. The shop does not rent dresses. It points instead to a wide range of price points, with prom gowns starting at $200.
Does Chally do alterations?
No. The FAQ says the store does not have an in-house alterations department, so plan to use an outside seamstress.
