The name is in the order the business actually works. Pageant leads, prom follows, and the labels on the racks say the same thing. Johnathan Kayne is a competition-stage house before it is anything else; Ava Presley and Jovani cover prom and homecoming. Those three brands all list this shop on their official retailer pages. The store’s own listings add cocktail dresses, accessories and little girls’ pageant dresses.
A dedicated formalwear shop is a slightly improbable thing for this town to support. Mountain Home had a population of 12,825 at the 2020 census, with a median age of 49.1 years; 32.1% of residents were 65 or older and 18.4% were under 18. Teenagers are not what local retail runs on. The shop works because its trade area is not the city limits — it is the Twin Lakes region of north-central Arkansas and the rural counties around it, the same catchment that comes to Mountain Home for the two-year Arkansas State University campus on the west side of town and for anything that cannot be bought closer to home. Mountain Home sits at the center of the Twin Lakes area, with Norfork Lake 15 minutes east and Bull Shoals Lake 20 minutes northwest, and it falls inside the Springfield, Missouri television market — which tells you roughly how far the nearest big-mall shopping is.
Whose prom this is
Mountain Home High School is the anchor: grades 10 through 12, 1,517 students in 2023–24, the Bombers, on Bomber Boulevard, in the 6A West. Everything else in range is a fraction of that size, which is why one downtown storefront can serve the whole ring.

At those enrollments, the same dress showing up twice is a real risk at a small school and a solved problem if the shop knows who bought what. That is worth asking about directly when the gown is chosen.
The tuxedo side
The shop is an affiliated Jim’s Formal Wear retailer, so a rental tux and a gown can come out of the same appointment, with measurements taken in person instead of guessed at online. That retailer listing shows weekday hours running to 6, Saturday 10 to 3, and Sunday by appointment.
Call before you drive in
Use (870) 926-3490 first, especially if the drive is coming from Salem, Gainesville or Bull Shoals. Addresses for this shop disagree across the internet: national retailer listings still carry a Highway 5 North location, at least one review site shows East 9th Street, and the Baxter Bulletin’s local business directory lists 8 East 1st Street, just north of the courthouse square. A phone call settles the address and the appointment in one go.
The East 1st Street address puts the shop within walking distance of the square, which is the part of Mountain Home that has changed most in the last few years. The city was the first in Arkansas to use Act 812 of 2019 to create an entertainment district — an eight-square-block downtown zone, and coffee, a bakery and restaurants have filled in around it. If a fitting is going to take an hour, there is somewhere to wait it out.
