The two oldest stores both let prom shoppers walk in. Sacramento and the Central Valley
Only Wish puts a year on the record here, which makes it the valley's long-timer by default. Its layout reads like a shop that has watched many school years go by: formal racks for spring, a queen section for court nominations, and a front room of graduation dresses that meet dress codes. Around Sacramento, the two shops sell on policy instead of history. Both keep a registry.
The Central Coast
No other listed shop sits between Grover Beach and the Los Angeles basin.
Greater Los Angeles
Iness holds the oldest year here. The two dated Fashion District shops started as websites and built fitting rooms around the catalog later, so neither expects you to browse blind; one requires a booking and the other strongly suggests it. Santee Street has its own staying power. The block works as one long prom floor.
Orange County
The youngest region is also the most candid about screen versus floor. OC Sparkle says its website and store stock differ and asks you to call. Cason will send a video of three dresses. Bonita sells online, but every sale is final, so try on in Buena Park first.
San Diego County
The far south is a matched pair from the mid-1980s. Christina's says at least three generations of the same families come back. PreVue's 2026 guide gives the timing: most local proms land in April and May, and by February the favorite styles are being claimed.
