Bridal is only half of what Minerva's sells. The shop opened on South Orange Avenue in 1987 and has been dressing Orlando for formal events ever since, junior prom and senior prom included. The website's own title calls it a wedding and prom dress shop, and the prom side has a designer list that holds its own against any formal shop in the region.

That spread helps because a group of friends rarely wants the same thing. One wants a fitted sequin column, one wants a ball gown, and one just wants something that isn't on every other girl at the dance. With a dozen labels in play, a single appointment can cover all three.
The quinceañera side is real too, with Amarra, House of Wu, Morilee, Rachel Allan, Mary's and Princesa among the listed designers. A family planning a quince now and a prom a couple of years later can handle both here.
Fit, sizing and the shop next door
Size inclusivity is one of the things Minerva's is proudest of. Its FAQ says the store has a plus-size selection of more than 100 dresses in sizes 16 to 28, which is a lot of stock to try on rather than order blind.
Alterations work a little differently than at most boutiques. The seamstresses are at Laces and Threads, which the store says has served its customers for more than 30 years.

The FAQ also mentions personalized payment plans you can ask a stylist about, and a full accessories counter with jewelry, sashes and hairpieces.
The main store works as a special-order boutique, which is a good reason to start prom shopping early, ideally before the winter holidays for spring dances. If the timeline is tight or the budget is firm, Minerva's points budget shoppers to its sister store instead.

This stretch of South Orange Avenue sits in Boone High School territory, which makes the shop a natural first stop for Braves juniors and seniors. Jones High School and Edgewater High School sit west and north of the shop, and Colonial High School families make the trip from east Orlando. Minerva's has been on the same avenue for more than three decades, long enough to dress a lot of Boone classes.
