For roughly thirty years, the old post office on Southport Road sat empty. A local church bought it, then put it back up for sale, and in January 2016 the building went to Sophia's, the Indianapolis bridal, tux and prom business. Towne Post, the community magazine, followed the renovation that year and reported the result: a fresh, modern store of 10,000 square feet, nearly triple the space the company had been using. The previous store closed on October 2, 2016, and the Southport Road building opened the next day.
That building is now home to the south-side XO by Sophia's, the company's prom and formal label. Its owner, Jessica Limeberry, has since described the 10,000-square-foot store as the largest of the company's four locations.

The space shows up in the stock. At the south-side store, XO promises more than 1,000 dresses that can go home the day you buy, and the stock covers more than prom: homecoming and short dresses through the fall, long gowns for spring, and a separate pageant collection for contestants who need a gown with stage presence. Suits and tuxes, for rent or purchase, are fitted in the same store.

Labels on the racks include Sherri Hill, Amarra, Ellie Wilde, Faviana, Portia and Scarlett, Colette and Jovani, next to the house-designed XO Exclusive line.
Paying for a gown does not have to happen all at once. The stores offer free layaway with $200 down, and the dress is released when the balance is paid.

Southport, Perry Township and the Johnson County schools
The south-side store is the natural first stop for Perry Township's two high schools, Southport and Perry Meridian, and for Roncalli, the Catholic high school on the south side. Just over the county line in Johnson County, Center Grove and Greenwood Community High School send their own prom shoppers north, and Franklin Central, in the southeast corner of Marion County, rounds out the list. The company's history on this side of town goes back further than the post office, too, since the earlier store stood on US 31 near Greenwood Park Mall.
No appointment is needed for prom here, and groups have a weekday option of their own.
