The main floor at 2309 Central Avenue is bridal — wedding gowns, mothers-of, tuxedos. The prom and homecoming racks are a floor below, in a separate space the shop named The Babe Cave. It runs on its own rules: no appointment, walk in and shop.

Three prom labels are confirmed through the designers’ own retailer locators: Clarisse, Colette and Tiffany Designs. The shop’s prom page also lists Colors, Eureka, Faviana and Poly, with plus ranges from Faviana and Poly.
Where it sits
Central Avenue was paved with brick in 1915, and a century later the district east of 2nd Avenue is still called The Bricks. That is the address: a storefront on a brick street in downtown Kearney, in a stretch of independent shops, cafes and bars. Street parking, no mall, no ring road. Kearney is a city of roughly 34,000 in the middle of Nebraska, fifth largest in the state, sitting on I-80 with the university on the south side of town.
Kearney High enrolled about 1,650 students in 2023–24; Kearney Catholic runs around 360 across grades 6–12. For a Bearcat or a Star, this is a ten-minute errand. The wider draw is the point, though. Minden, Amherst, Pleasanton, Ravenna, Gibbon, Elm Creek, Lexington, Cozad, Holdrege, Ord and Broken Bow are all inside an hour, and Kearney is where those families already come for everything else.
What the alternatives are
Grand Island is 51 miles east on I-80, under an hour, and has prom inventory of its own. Hirschfeld’s Prom Shoppe in North Platte is roughly 100 miles the other direction. After that it is Lincoln or Omaha, which turns dress shopping into a full day and a tank of gas. For most of central Nebraska, Kearney is the short version of that trip.
The season, as the store keeps it
Hello Beautiful is open Monday through Thursday 10 to 6, Friday 10 to 5 and Saturday 10 to 4 year-round. Sundays are added only from January through April. That is the prom calendar written into the door hours: shopping opens up right after the holidays and the extra day disappears once central Nebraska proms are over in the spring. If you are coming from Broken Bow or Holdrege, a January or February Sunday is the version of this trip with the least traffic in the fitting rooms.
Megan Goeke and Jenna Lukasiewicz, both from Kearney, opened the shop in 2014. Lukasiewicz manages the boutique and the alterations side. The prom room has been operating under the Babe Cave name since at least early 2021, when the Kearney Hub wrote about it.
