Most dress shops put the good mirror at the end of a fitting-room hallway. This one built a 16-foot LED runway and made it the center of the floor. Jewel Prom & Pageant opened at the end of July 2025 in Suite 107 at 8601 S 30th St, a multi-tenant retail building in the Wilderness Hills development in south Lincoln, and the runway is where the store puts its trunk shows, fashion shows and designer appearances.
It is a new business, not a converted bridal store. The announcement in the Lincoln business monthly Strictly Business credits it to the same ownership behind Blush Bridal Boutique and Refined Bridal Co., both established Lincoln bridal shops. Sara, who runs Jewel, says on the store’s own about page that she worked at Walt Disney World early in her career, spent a decade in college admissions, and has served as a pageant director.
Brands, and how thin the field is in Lincoln
Three labels are confirmed on their own retailer locators: Sherri Hill, Jovani and Ashley Lauren. Jovani’s retailer page for Nebraska lists only two authorized stockists in the city — this store and Lincoln Formal Dress Boutique on O Street — which is worth knowing if you are shopping a specific Jovani style number rather than browsing. The opening announcement also named Sydney’s Closet, an extended-size formal label, among the designers stocked.
How a visit works
- Prom, homecoming and social-occasion shopping is walk-in. The store says no appointment is needed and that you can try on and take the gown home the same day — no ordering and waiting.
- Pageant shopping runs differently. The store asks pageant clients to RSVP for its Crown Jewel appointment, a private runway-style session in a separate pageant showroom.
- Sizing is listed as 000 to 38 on the store’s site.
- Tuxedos and suits are handled as a Jim’s Formal Wear retailer, with in-store measuring and color matching to the dress.
Posted hours are Wednesday through Friday noon to 7, Saturday and Sunday 10 to 5, closed Monday and Tuesday. Jim’s Formal Wear’s store page lists Saturday until 6, so call before a late Saturday run.
The drive, and who it’s close to
Wilderness Hills is the retail cluster at 27th and Yankee Hill Road, and the store sits a few blocks east of it at 30th, near the south Lincoln Kohl’s and the Freddy’s on the corner. Coming from anywhere north or east in the city, the simplest route is Highway 2 to South 27th, then south past Pine Lake Road. Parking is a strip-center lot, which matters more than it sounds like it should during April, when a mall garage is the alternative. Orangetheory and the Edge apparel boutique are in the same building, so a parent waiting out a long try-on session is not stranded.
Standing Bear High School, at 70th and Saltillo Road, is Lincoln Public Schools’ eighth high school and the closest one to this address; Lincoln Southwest, Lincoln Southeast, Lincoln East, Pius X and Lincoln Christian are all a manageable cross-town drive. Being on the south edge also puts the store ahead of the O Street shops for the towns that treat Lincoln as their shopping city — Hickman, Firth and the Norris district, Waverly, Crete, Beatrice up US-77 — who reach it without crossing town.
One caveat: the store is new enough that there is very little public record beyond its own posts and the opening announcement. The brand authorizations and the address are the checkable parts. Everything about service and stock depth is still being written by the people who shop there this season.
