The same shop that sells a Jovani ballgown to a Reynolds junior also sells work uniforms. In the description Christopher’s wrote for its own vendor listings, the business covers prom dresses, bridesmaid dresses, tuxedos to rent or buy, and service uniforms — 5.11 Tactical, Bates, Blackinton, Liberty and Southeastern — with free hemming thrown in on a complete uniform order. That is an unusual pairing, and it says something about how a small independent survives in a city with a mall this large a few minutes down the road: prom is the busy season, not the only season.

Two addresses, one phone number
Christopher’s spent years as “Christopher’s Formal Wear of Thruway Center” at 302-C South Stratford Road, and plenty of listings — Yelp, the Visit Winston-Salem wedding directory, Jovani’s own store page — still show that address. Business directories now put the shop at 3010 Healy Drive, Suite 300, in Healy Drive Plaza. The two sites are a few hundred yards apart, both inside the Stratford Road retail cluster with quick access to I-40 and US-421, but they are not the same door. The phone number, (336) 724-4550, has stayed the same through it all. Call it before driving.
The store’s Instagram account lists hours as appointment only: closed Monday, Tuesday through Friday 10–5, Saturday 10–3. For prom season in the Piedmont Triad, where dances land mostly in late April and early May, that means booking well ahead of the March rush rather than dropping in on a Saturday afternoon.

The strong reviews describe careful measuring for wedding parties and a customer who was talked through fabric choices at length and left with white tie and tails for well under chain-store pricing. The critical ones describe curt service and fit problems. For a store this small, the appointment is the product — who is working that day matters.
One documented thing from the owner’s side: in May 2020, when North Carolina closed schools and proms disappeared, owner Haley Logan arranged socially distanced photo shoots with two local photographers for customers who had already bought their gowns, with proceeds from extra prints going to HOPE of Winston-Salem.
