The store’s own history explains a name that still confuses people. It opened in 1983 as Bruce’s Bridal, next to a tuxedo shop on North Main Street, outgrew that space, and moved to 202 South Main. In 2001 the business incorporated as Lasting Impressions, doing business as Bruce’s Bridal. Longtime customers in Davidson County may still call it by the old name.
The shop’s website is written almost entirely for brides — Maggie Sottero, Allure, Mori Lee, alterations, layaway on wedding gowns. The prom side shows up in the retailer locators: Jovani, Ava Presley, Tiffany Designs and Johnathan Kayne all list this store. That is a prom-and-pageant lineup, not an afterthought. Johnathan Kayne in particular is a label stocked by shops that dress pageant contestants, not only juniors buying one dress in April.
Two stores, and two different phone numbers
Lasting Impressions runs a second location in Salisbury, and the business states that each store keeps its own selection of gowns. That matters before making the drive: the dress seen online may be on the other rack, 18 miles down I-85. It also explains a common mix-up in directory listings, including this one — the (704) number rings Salisbury, not Main Street.

Posted hours are Monday 10:00–6:30, Tuesday through Friday 10:00–5:30, and Saturday 9:00–4:30, with appointments taken by phone or online. Calling first is worth it in March and April, when a bridal party and a prom group can fill the same fitting rooms.
Who this store is for, geographically
Lexington sits on I-85 roughly halfway between Winston-Salem and Salisbury — about 21 miles and a half hour from Winston-Salem on US-52 and I-285, 39 miles from Greensboro. That puts the Main Street store closer than the mall for most of Davidson County: Lexington Senior High on Penry Street, Central Davidson out on NC 47, and the rest of the county’s high schools — East, West and North Davidson, South Davidson, Ledford, Oak Grove, Davidson County High and Davidson Early College. Lexington Senior and Central Davidson share the PAC Seven Conference, so the odds of two girls from the same dance finding the same gown here are real, and worth asking the staff to track.
Two practical notes about the address itself. It is a downtown storefront in the uptown business district, so parking is street and lot parking rather than a mall deck. And on one Saturday in late October, Main Street closes for about ten blocks for the Barbecue Festival — a bad day to plan a homecoming fitting, and the one weekend a year when getting to 202 S Main by car is genuinely difficult.
What the store commits to in writing
The published service page includes what the shop calls the Lasting Guarantee: an ordered gown can be exchanged within ten days for one of equal or greater value if it is in stock. The layaway terms listed alongside it — no service charge, up to 60 days on sale gowns — are written for wedding and informal bridal gowns, so whether they extend to a prom dress is a question for the store. A seamstress is listed on staff, which for a spring purchase usually means alterations do not have to be arranged somewhere else.
