From brand ambassador to owner

In 2017 Lacey Humphreys became the first brand ambassador for Glitter and Lace, and the very first customer of the shop that its founder, Kim, had started on Midlothian Turnpike. A few years later her sister Zoey Vreeland spent several seasons as an ambassador too, posing for the boutique's social campaigns and photo shoots. On August 1, 2024, the sisters and their mother, Tammy Vreeland, bought the business.

The family was not new to formalwear. They already owned Evermore Bridal Boutique in Petersburg, and the store's about page calls the purchase a natural transition. Zoey is now general manager of Glitter and Lace, while Lacey manages Evermore. Kim stepped back from daily work but still turns up for special events such as Wear RVA and for the charity work she partners on with the shop. The new owners close their note to her with a line that sums up the handoff.

The homepage now reads "Glitter and Lace by Evermore," and it states the mission in a sentence: to make everyone look and feel amazing. The tagline on the site is lighter. Every special occasion, it says, requires a dash of "glitter" and a hint of "lace."

What the racks cover

Prom is the center of the business. The site's prom menu runs to eleven collections, and the homepage adds a longer list of partner designers. Sorted by what a shopper is looking for, the labels named on the store's website line up like this.

Size range is where this boutique stands out. The website says it carries every size from 00 to 32, junior through plus, and describes itself as both size inclusive and price inclusive. The in-stock search on the site goes further still, with filters from 000 up through 32W. For curvy and plus shoppers, that range is the reason to make the drive.

The tuxedo partnership is broader than a rack of rentals.

Like its sister store in Petersburg, the boutique aims to take the stress out of formal shopping with an intimate, customer-centric room and personalized attention, per the homepage. The event list it serves is long: prom and homecoming first, then pageants, sweet 16 parties, black tie evenings and wedding parties. In practice that means a junior can come in for a homecoming mini in September, return for a full-length prom gown in the spring, and come back again when a sweet 16 or a pageant comes up.

Finding the door on Midlothian Turnpike

Glitter and Lace sits at the back of Governor's Square on Midlothian Turnpike, the US 60 stretch through the Bon Air and Midlothian side of Chesterfield. The website tells first-time visitors to turn into the lot at the carpool sign or the Governor's Square sign rather than hunting for a storefront from the road. That location puts it within reach of students at Monacan, James River, Midlothian and Clover Hill high schools, plus Cosby in the county's western end, along with families across the Richmond suburbs in central Virginia.

Appointments are preferred and walk-ins are welcome. The online scheduler asks which category you are shopping, from prom to homecoming to wedding party, and the 2026 prom calendar was open on the site. The homepage notes that hours change with the season, and the last appointment or walk-in is taken shortly before closing. Wedding parties get a separate area and their own appointments.
