Until 2024, Minot had one public high school, split by grade across two campuses. Then Minot North opened on the north hill that August, and in May 2025 its Sentinels graduated a first senior class. That gives the city two Class A proms — the Magicians out of Magic City Campus, the Sentinels in navy and silver — alongside Bishop Ryan and Our Redeemer’s. Who drives here
Minot is the retail hub for the top-left quarter of North Dakota, and this store carries that whole area. Minot Air Force Base is a short run north on US 83, which means a steady share of customers are Air Force families who arrived last summer and have no idea yet where anything is. Everyone else comes in off US 2 and US 52 from towns whose entire junior class fits in a school bus — Surrey, Velva, Berthold, Des Lacs-Burlington, Kenmare, Garrison, Bottineau, Rugby, Stanley. For most of those schools, Minot is the only shopping trip that does not eat the whole day.
The real alternative is not another Minot store. It is Bismarck, roughly two hours south on US 83, or Williston about the same distance west on US 2. Families do make that trip, and the shop’s bridal reviews include a customer who shopped Bismarck and Fargo before buying in Minot. If duplicate dresses worry you — a live concern now that two large proms in one city pull from the same racks — that two-hour drive is what buys you distance from your classmates. It is a fair trade to weigh, and no local shop can promise you exclusivity it cannot enforce.
