The building on South Main is a 10,000-square-foot store spread over three and a half levels, and Fiancée uses every one of them to sort its business. Wedding gowns live in a private suite on the lower level. Suits and tuxedos have their own department. Prom gets the upstairs, and the shop describes that floor with obvious enthusiasm.

Treat 800-plus as the floor, since the store's own count runs a little higher and special ordering is unlimited. Prom shoppers from across northwest North Dakota have a lot of racks to work through, and the photo ops are part of the plan: a life-size Barbie Box sits in the prom area for the picture before you even pay. Debbie Harris and her team run the store, which has been dressing Minot for special occasions since at least 1983.
Booking the prom floor
Fiancée is appointment-only, and it explains why: every customer gets personal attention in the bridal suite, the prom area, the suit department or the special-occasion section. Slots are booked online, and anyone hoping for a same-day time can call the shop to ask what is open.

- Your shoes, at a spot by the front door, so the carpet and the hems stay clean
- Outside food and drink, which are not allowed
- Children, not recommended unless they are the ones being fitted, since the store runs over several floors
Labels on the prom racks
The prom labels are Amarra, Ashley Lauren, Clarisse, GiGi by La Femme, Jasz, Johnathan Kayne, Kate Parker, La Femme and La Femme Curves, Primavera and Sherri Hill. Homecoming draws from most of the same houses, so a label a sophomore liked at homecoming is usually back on the prom floor come spring. The shop promises sizes from petite to plus, long gowns, short styles, two-piece sets and sequin and satin looks, with shoes and accessories in the store.
The prom floor serves Minot High School and Minot North High School, which opened in 2024, along with Bishop Ryan Catholic School and students from the small schools across Ward County and beyond, such as Surrey, Velva, Glenburn and Des Lacs-Burlington. For many of those towns, a trip to downtown Minot is the main formalwear outing of the year.
Dates have a lot to choose from. The store counts over 400 suits, about 1,000 dress shirts and 1,000 bow ties, plus 200 colors of bow tie and suspender sets.
