Prom at Alan Evans is not a separate storefront. It shares the address, the phone number and the floor with RSVP Bride by Alan Evans at 1535 42nd St S, and the store’s own site describes the prom side as a pop-up shop that appears for the season. It also runs its own Instagram account, separate from the bridal one. The practical consequence: the prom racks are a spring thing, and if you are driving in from out of town it is worth calling first to confirm the prom floor is up.
The business itself is older than the Fargo address. The store dates itself to 1997, when it opened as Alan Evans Bridal in Moorhead, and it moved across the river to the Fargo location in June 2019. An outlet operation stayed behind on the Minnesota side: the site says Alan Evans Outlet is temporarily inside Moorhead Center Mall and opens roughly once a month with discontinued and clearance stock, including clearance prom. Those dates are irregular, so that one is a phone call, not a drop-in.
Where it sits
The address is on the 42nd Street side of the West Acres retail district, and the store describes itself as across the street from the mall. West Acres opened in 1972, runs about 950,000 square feet, and is the largest mall in North Dakota, sitting near where I‑29 meets I‑94. That matters mainly for how the trip gets planned. Shoes, jewelry and everything else on the list are a two-minute drive from the fitting room, and the same interstate junction is what makes Fargo the shopping stop for families coming in from smaller towns in Cass County and northwest Minnesota.
Local high schools are close in. Davies sits south at 7150 25th St S with about 1,300 students; Fargo North and Fargo South are on the other side of town; Shanley and Oak Grove Lutheran draw from across the metro. In the West Fargo district there are now three high schools — West Fargo, Sheyenne, and Horace High School, which opened for the 2021–22 school year and enrolled 785 students in 2024. Across the Red River, Moorhead High adds a Minnesota crowd to the same set of April and May dance dates.
Brands confirmed on the floor
- Alyce Paris
- Amarra
- Clarisse
- Colette
- Jasz
Those five list this store on their official retailer locators. The prom floor may carry more than that in a given season; those are the ones that can be verified before you go.
Hours and appointments
Posted hours are 10 to 5 Monday and Tuesday, 10 to 7 Wednesday and Thursday, 10 to 5 Friday and Saturday, closed Sunday. Wednesday and Thursday are the only two evenings that work after a school day. Appointments are booked through the store’s own site, and because bridal and prom share the same room, booking ahead in the weeks before the first grand marches is the difference between a fitting room and a wait.
